These fantastic, and I do mean drool worthy fantastic, sloppy joes were a lunch offering at a bazaar I did at a local high school. After raving about them (seriously these are amazingly good, best I ever tasted) and asking for the recipe, I got it emailed to me the very next day. I am so glad Sharon shared this recipe with me,...

Number Of Ingredients 13

1 lb ground beef
1/2 c chopped celery
1/3 c chopped onion
2 Tbsp chopped green pepper
1 c ketchup
1/2 c chili sauce
1 Tbsp sugar
1 Tbsp brown sugar
1 Tbsp cider vinegar
2 tsp ground mustard
1/4 tsp salt
1/8 tsp pepper
hamburger buns

Steps:

  • 1. Cook beef, celery, onion and green pepper over medium heat until meat is no longer pink and the vegetables are tender. Drain.
  • 2. Stir in the ketchup, chili sauce, sugars, vinegar, mustard, salt and pepper. Bring to a boil. Reduce heat, simmer, uncovered for 15 minutes.

1 pound ground beef
1 cup ketchup
1/4 cup water
2 tablespoons brown sugar
2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce
2 teaspoons prepared mustard
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
1/2 teaspoon onion powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
4 hamburger buns, split

Steps:

  • In a large skillet, cook beef over medium heat until no longer pink; drain. Stir in the ketchup, water, brown sugar, Worcestershire sauce, mustard, garlic powder, onion powder and salt. Bring to a boil. Reduce heat; cover and simmer for 15-20 minutes. Serve on buns.
