- Combine cold water, cornstarch, and 1/2 teaspoon salt in a bowl; mix well. Add to honey sauce mixture and mix well. Set aside until needed.
- Sprinkle 1/4 teaspoon salt and 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder over chicken.
- Whisk egg in a large bowl. Add remaining salt and garlic powder and mix well. Mix in flour. Combine water and cornstarch in a bowl; add to egg mixture and mix well. Add avocado oil and baking powder; mix well.
- Pour 3 inches of peanut oil into the bottom of a wide, deep pot and heat to 325 degrees F (165 degrees C).

Steps:
- Whisk all the "Frying Batter" ingredients together until smooth. Set aside. Drop in the chicken cubes, mix well until they are well coated. Set aside.
- Mix all the ingredients of the "Honey Sesame Sauce" together and set aside.
- Heat up a saute pan and add about 2-inch of oil on medium to high heat. When the oil is fully heated, gently drop in the battered chicken cubes, one by one, making sure it is spread out to prevent sticking together. Continue to fry until the color changes to golden brown. Dish out and drain on paper towels.
- Transfer 2 tablespoons of the frying oil in a wok or skillet, stir-fry the garlic until aromatic. Add in the Honey Sesame Sauce, and bring to a light simmer or until the sauce thickens. Drop in the chicken, stir-fry a few times to combine the sauce and chicken, add the sesame seeds, dish out and serve immediately with steamed white rice, or Chinese fried rice.

SESAME CHICKEN
This recipe really satisfies my craving for Chinese food. I serve it over rice with a side of steamed vegetables. The sauce makes just enough to glaze the chicken. I usually double or even triple the sauce recipe to have enough to pour over our rice and veggies. It is a nice low-fat alternative to the restaurant-style Sesame Chicken.

Steps:
- Cut chicken breast into 1 inch strips or bite size pieces.
- Heat a large non-stick skillet that has been sprayed with Pam, over medium-high heat.
- Cook chicken for about 6 minutes or until no longer pink.
- Mix together honey, soy sauce, water, corn starch, ginger and red pepper flakes.
- Whisk until no corn starch lumps appear.
- Pour sauce mixture into skillet with chicken.
- Cook until sauce thickens slightly.
- You can add more water if sauce is too thick.
- Sprinkle with sesame seeds.
- Cover and simmer for 10 minutes or until chicken starts to soak up the sauce.
- Note: Since originally posting this recipe, I have tried some of the suggestions others have made. I do like it with a bit of sesame oil (be careful not to get too much, just a few drops at the end of cooking is good enough for me, but you might like more), fresh ginger is also good if you have it on hand. I have tried it with garlic and it is good that way also. I have also found that it is good with shrimp and pork. Basically what I am trying to say is, the original recipe is just a simple, quick and healthy meal I came up with when I was craving Chinese food. I thought it turned out really great and wanted to share it. I'm happy that so many of you have enjoyed it. For those of you that didn't care for it, I hope you can find one that suits your fancy some where else.

Steps:
- Air fry or bake the chicken at 400F for 12 minutes before adding the bell pepper and green beans. Toss and air fry for an additional 8-12 minutes until the chicken is crispy. For conventional oven, follow the same instructions using a baking sheet with a wire rack.
- While the chicken cooks, mix the sauce ingredients together in a bowl. Heat a saucepan or skillet over medium-high heat. Carefully add the sauce mixture to the pan and cook, stirring often, for 8-10 minutes until the mixture has reduced to a sauce. When a spatula leaves a trail behind it when dragged through the sauce, remove from the heat.
- Add the cooked chicken to a bowl (or straight in the skillet/saucepan) with the toasted sesame seeds and sauce. Gently toss together until evenly coated. Serve with rice and enjoy!

- Whilst the oil is heating, place the egg in one shallow bowl and the cornflour in another shallow bowl. Add the flour, salt, pepper, garlic salt and paprika to another shallow bowl and mix together.
- Dredge the chicken in the cornflour, then dip in the egg (make sure all of the chicken is covered in egg wash), and finally dredge it in the seasoned flour. Add to the wok and cook on a high heat for 6-7 minutes, turning two or three times during cooking, until well browned. You may need to cook in two batches (I find I can do it in one batch so long as it's no more than 3 chicken breasts). Remove from the pan and place in a bowl lined with kitchen towels.
- Add all of the sauce ingredients to the hot wok, stir and bubble on a high heat until the sauce reduces by about a third (should take 2-3 minutes). Add the chicken back in and toss in the sauce to coat. Cook for 1-2 minutes.
