SLOW-COOKER GARLIC-SESAME BEEF
My mom received this marinade recipe from a neighbor while she lived in Seoul, South Korea, which is where I was adopted from. Mom created heritage night for my brother and me, and she served Korean bulgogi with sticky rice, kimchi and chopsticks. - In a large shallow dish, mix the first 8 ingredients. Add beef; turn to coat. Refrigerate, covered, 8 hours or overnight., Pour beef and marinade into a 3-qt. slow cooker. Cook, covered, on low 5-7 hours or until meat is tender., Using a slotted spoon, remove beef to a serving platter; sprinkle with additional green onions and sesame seeds. Serve with rice.

SHEET-PAN SESAME BEEF AND BROCCOLI
This six-ingredient sheet-pan spin on beef and broccoli is easy enough to make any time you're craving takeout - and at 25 minutes, it's faster, too!

- Heat oven to 450°F. Spray 15x10x1-inch rimmed sheet pan with cooking spray.
- In large bowl, mix dressing and 1 teaspoon of the soy sauce; add broccoli, and toss to coat. Pour broccoli mixture onto pan; spread in single layer. In same bowl, mix brown sugar, salt and remaining 2 teaspoons soy sauce. Add beef to mixture; turn to coat. Add beef to pan with broccoli. Roast 10 to 14 minutes or until beef is cooked to desired doneness (145°F for medium-rare) and broccoli is fork-tender. Sprinkle with sesame seed.
- Serve with rice and green onions.

SESAME SOY MARINATED BEEF ROAST
This roast has such a good flavor and makes such a wonderful dark brown gravy! Mashed potatoes are a must with this roast. This recipe is one of my favorites from My Great Recipes.

Steps:
- 1. Place roast in dish with cover.
- 2. Brown sesame seeds in butter about 1 min over medium heat.
- 3. Add coffee, soy sauce, Worcestershire sauce, and vinegar. Heat to boiling.
- 4. Pour hot marinade over roast. Marinate 8 hours or overnight, covered.
- 5. Remove roast from marinade. Brown on all sides over medium high heat. Heat marinade to boiling. Place roast in roasting pan with lid, pour marinade over and cover. Bake at 325 deg F for 2 to 2 1/2 hours. May also be placed in a crock pot and cooked on low for 8 to 10 hours or on high for 4 to 5 hours.
- 6. Remove roast from baking dish. Strain drippings. Skim off excess fat. Bring to a boil.
- 7. Mix cornstarch with sherry or water. Add slowly while stirring to drippings, whisk until thickened. Stir in sesame seeds, if desired. Pour some over roast, place remainder in dish for serving with meat. Slice to serve.
SESAME BEEF
Strips of round steak and chopped scallions are marinated with soy sauce and garlic, then quickly stir fried with sesame seeds. Add a little sesame oil to the marinade if you like that flavor. Serve with rice.

My family loves this roast during the summer and it's easy too! I found this recipe in the Sunset Barbecue Cookbook. Prep time does not include the overnight marinading time and, to be honest, I don't always marinate this overnight....I've found even just a few hours is enough.

- Toast sesame seeds in a wide frying pan over medium heat until golden (about 3 minutes), shaking pan often.
- Remove from heat and add oil, soy, lemon juice, vinegar, sugar, garlic and onion.
- Place meat in a close-fitting bowl; pour marinade over meat, cover, and refrigerate until the next day, turning occasionally.
- Barbecue meat by indirect heat.
- lift meat from marinade and drain briefly (reserve marinade); then place on grill directly above drip pan.
- Cover barbecue and adjust dampers as necessary to maintain an even heat.
- Cook, basting occasionally with marinade, until a meat thermometer inserted in thickest part register 135° to 140° for rare* (1 1/2 to 1 3/4 hours).
- Let meat stand for 10 minutes; then cut across the grain into thin slices.
- *Inmy family, we all like different degrees of'doneness', I've found if I take it out when the temperature on the meat thermometer is 150°, there are fairly well done parts with rarer meat in the middle.

- Combine the soy sauce, brown sugar, and 1/2 cup water in a bowl and stir until the brown sugar is dissolved. Mince the garlic and grate the ginger. Add the garlic, ginger, and toasted sesame oil to the soy sauce mixture. Set the cooking liquid aside.
- Either slice or cube the beef roast. Slice three of the green onions into 1.5-2 inch sections (save the rest of the green onions for garnish after cooking). Place the beef roast and green onions in the slow cooker. Pour the cooking liquid over top and stir to combine.
- Place a lid on the slow cooker, and cook on HIGH for four hours or LOW for eight hours. After four hours on high or eight hours on low the beef should be very tender and should shred easily with a fork. If not, replace the lid and cook for 30-60 minutes more.
- Once the beef is tender, it's time to thicken the sauce. Dissolve the cornstarch in 2 tablespoons of water, then pour it into the pot with the beef and cooking liquid. Stir to combine, then allow it to come back up to a simmer, at which point the sauce will thicken just slightly. Turn the heat off and garnish with the sesame seeds and remaining green onions (sliced). Serve over a bed of rice or as part of your favorite meal.

- If your sesame seeds are not pre-toasted, dry fry them in a skillet or frying pan until nicely browned but not burned. Divide in half and set aside.
- In a bowl, combine the brown sugar, soy sauce, water, sesame oil, half of the roasted sesame seeds, ginger, garlic and flour. Add the beef strips and mix well to ensure the beef is well coated with the marinade. Let sit in the fridge for a few hours or overnight. If short on time, marinate for at least 1 hour.
