2 tablespoons soy sauce
2 tablespoons dry sherry
1 tablespoon sugar
2 teaspoons rice vinegar
1/2 teaspoon red-pepper flakes
1/2 teaspoon cornstarch
1 tablespoon plus 1 teaspoon vegetable oil
3/4 pound boneless New York strip steak, thinly sliced
2 red bell peppers, ribs and seeds removed, thinly sliced
2 garlic cloves, minced
1 tablespoon sesame seeds, toasted
Cooked rice, for serving
Thinly sliced scallions greens (optional), for serving

Steps:

  • In a small bowl, combine soy sauce, sherry, sugar, vinegar, red-pepper flakes, and cornstarch. In a large skillet, heat 1 tablespoon oil over medium-high. In 2 batches, cook meat, undisturbed, until browned on one side, about 2 minutes per batch. Transfer to a plate.
  • Add 1 teaspoon oil and bell peppers to skillet and cook, stirring, until peppers are crisp-tender, 2 minutes. Add garlic and cook until fragrant, 30 seconds. Whisk soy sauce mixture and add to skillet, along with steak. Cook, stirring, until sauce thickens, 1 minute. Stir in sesame seeds. To serve, spoon beef mixture over rice and top with scallion greens, if desired.

1 pound beef top sirloin steak, cut into 1-inch cubes
6 tablespoons sesame ginger salad dressing, divided
1 tablespoon reduced-sodium soy sauce
2 cups chopped fresh pineapple
2 medium apples, chopped
1 tablespoon sweet chili sauce
1 tablespoon lime juice
1/4 teaspoon pepper
1 tablespoon sesame seeds, toasted

Steps:

  • In a bowl, toss beef with 3 tablespoons dressing and soy sauce; let stand 10 minutes. Meanwhile, in a large bowl, combine pineapple, apples, chili sauce, lime juice and pepper; toss to combine., Thread beef onto four metal or soaked wooden skewers; discard remaining marinade. Grill kabobs, covered, over medium heat or broil 4 in. from heat until desired doneness, 7-9 minutes, turning occasionally; brush generously with remaining dressing during the last 3 minutes. Sprinkle with sesame seeds. Serve with pineapple mixture.

1 green onion, minced
1 clove garlic, minced

¼ cup teriyaki sauce
½ teaspoon sesame seeds

Steps:

  • Whisk together the sesame oil, vinegar, green onion, garlic, hoisin sauce, and chile garlic sauce in a large glass or ceramic bowl. Add the beef tenderloin cubes and toss to evenly coat. Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and marinate at room temperature for 10 minutes, or in the refrigerator up to 8 hours.
  • Preheat the oven's broiler and set the oven rack about 6 inches from the heat source. Line a baking sheet with aluminum foil.
  • Spread the beef cubes onto the prepared baking sheet. Bake in the preheated oven until cooked to your desired degree of doneness, about 8 minutes for medium-well. 1 lb. beef flank steak, thinly sliced
1 head broccoli, cut into florets
2 tablespoons vegetable oil
3 cloves garlic, thinly sliced or minced
one 1-inch knob fresh peeled ginger, grated or sliced
white rice, brown rice, or cauliflower rice for serving
thinly sliced green onions for serving
1/4 cup low sodium soy sauce
1/4 cup water
1/3 cup brown sugar (sub coconut sugar)
1 tablespoon sambal oelek
1 tablespoon rice vinegar (sub white vinegar)
1 tablespoon sesame oil
1 tablespoon cornstarch

Steps:

  • Freeze beef for 30 minutes - 1 hour for easier slicing. Slice against the grain, into very thin strips. Toss the beef strips with a generous pinch of coarse salt and let it rest while you prep everything else. (All of this is optional but recommended for flavor and texture.)
  • Whisk the sauce ingredients together.
  • Heat a large heavy skillet over medium heat. Add a swish of oil. Working in batches, add the beef in a single layer. Let rest, undisturbed, for a minute or two to achieve a nice browning on the meat. Flip each piece over and cook until browned and yummy. Remove beef from pan.
  • Add a swish of oil to the same pan. Add the broccoli; stir fry for 2-3 minutes, until bright green. (Sometimes I add a splash of water to steam it a little bit.) Remove broccoli from pan.
  • Turn the heat down and let the pan cool a bit. Add one last swish of oil. Add the ginger and garlic; sauté for 1-2 minutes. Add the sauce; stir until a thickened and sticky sauce forms. Add beef and broccoli back in. Toss gently to coat.
  • Serve with rice, thinly sliced green onions, and sesame seeds.

1 pound top round beef (cut into strips for stir-fry)
2 cups carrots (cut into strips or sliced thin)
6 ounces snow peas (string removed)

Steps:

  • Combine soy sauce (or coconut aminos,) sugar, garlic and ginger in a small bowl and set aside.
  • Heat canola oil in skillet over medium-high heat.
  • Add beef to skillet in batches and cook for about 3 minutes or until browned and cooked through.
  • Remove beef from pan and set aside.
  • Add vegetables, white parts of green onion and sauce to skillet and cook over medium high heat for about 5 minutes or until vegetables are crisp tender.

1 tablespoon sunflower or refined coconut oil
2 pounds ground beef
1 teaspoon kosher salt
6 cloves garlic minced
2 tablespoons grated ginger or ginger paste
1-2 tablespoons chili garlic sauce
3/4 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup low sodium soy sauce
1/4 cup toasted sesame oil
1 1/2 cups low sodium chicken broth or beef broth (separated)
2 tablespoons cornstarch
2 tablespoons toasted sesame seeds
8 green onions thinly sliced

Steps:

  • Drizzle the sunflower or coconut oil into a stainless steel everyday pan or cast iron skillet with high sides over medium heat. Add the ground beef, sprinkle the salt over, and press into a patty all the way to the edges of the pan. Let it cook for 3 minutes without disturbing or stirring it.
  • After 3 minutes, begin breaking up with a bamboo or wooden spoon until opaque and browned. Stir in the minced garlic and ginger, raise the heat to medium high, and cook until fragrant, about 1 minute. Stir in the chili garlic paste and brown sugar and cook for 30 seconds. Whisk together the soy sauce, sesame oil, and 1 1/4 cups broth and pour over the beef. Bring to a simmer.
  • Whisk together the remaining 1/4 cup of broth and the cornstarch until smooth. Pour into the simmering beef and sauce, stirring vigorously until combined. Return to a simmer, drop the heat to medium low, and let bubble and thicken for about 3 minutes, adding extra broth, 1 tablespoon at a time if it becomes too thick.
  • Remove from the heat and stir in the sesame seeds and green onions. Serve hot on rice, warm on lettuce leaves, or cold on salads.

4 teaspoons ketchup

3 slices peeled ginger, smashed

1 cup diced green bell pepper (1-inch)
1 cup diced red bell pepper (1-inch)
2 tablespoons unsalted beef broth

Steps:

  • Cut beef with the grain into 2-inch-wide strips. Cut each strip across the grain into 1/4-inch-thick slices. Combine the beef, cornstarch, 1½ tsp. soy sauce, and 1 tsp. sherry in a medium bowl; stir until the cornstarch is no longer visible. Add 1 tsp. oil and stir until the beef is lightly coated.
  • Combine hoisin sauce, ketchup, chile-garlic sauce (or Sriracha) to taste, and the remaining 1½ tsp. soy sauce and 1 Tbsp. sherry in a small bowl. Set aside.
  • Heat a 14-inch flat-bottomed carbon-steel wok (or a 12-inch stainless-steel skillet) over high heat until a drop of water vaporizes within 1 to 2 seconds of contact. Swirl in the remaining 1 Tbsp. oil. Add ginger and stir-fry until fragrant, about 10 seconds. Push the ginger to the sides of the pan and add the beef in an even layer. Cook, undisturbed, until the beef begins to brown, about 1 minute. Add onion and, using a metal spatula, stir-fry until the beef is lightly browned but not cooked through, 30 seconds to 1 minute more. Transfer the beef and onion mixture to a plate.
  • Add green and red peppers and broth to the pan. Cover and cook over high heat until the peppers are bright green and red and almost all the liquid has been absorbed, about 1 minute. Return the beef and onion and any accumulated juices to the pan. Add the reserved sauce and stir-fry until the beef is just cooked through and the peppers are tender-crisp, 30 seconds to 1 minute. 1 pound sirloin steak, sliced into thin strips
4 tablespoons cornstarch, divided
1/4 cup reduced sodium soy sauce
1/4 cup brown sugar, packed
2 tablespoons freshly squeezed orange juice
2 tablespoons rice vinegar
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 tablespoon freshly grated ginger
1 tablespoon Sriracha, optional
1 teaspoon sesame oil
1 teaspoon sesame seeds
1 green onion, thinly sliced

Steps:

  • Heat peanut oil in a large stockpot or Dutch oven over medium heat. In a large bowl, combine steak and 2 tablespoons cornstarch, tossing to coat and letting the steak absorb the cornstarch. Add remaining 2 tablespoons cornstarch before adding to the stockpot. Working in batches, cook steak until golden and crisp, about 2-3 minutes. Transfer to a paper towel-lined plate. In a medium saucepan over medium high heat, combine soy sauce, brown sugar, orange juice, vinegar, garlic, ginger, Sriracha and sesame oil until slightly thickened, about 1-2 minutes.   • Heat 1 Tbsp vegetable oil in large skillet over MED HIGH heat. Remove excess marinade from steak and cook in a single layer, for 2-3 minutes, stirring to cook both sides. Depending on the size of your pan, you may need to do this in batches. Remove steak to plate.
  • Heat remaining 1 Tbsp vegetable oil, then add peas, carrots and green onion and cook stirring often, 2-3 minutes.
  • Whisk together broth, soy sauce, honey/brown sugar, rice vinegar, garlic, sesame oil, fresh ginger, cornstarch, and red pepper flakes. Add steak and sauce to skillet, stirring to combine. Sauce will thicken.
