These marinated tuna steaks, served rare, taste 'fancy' but are very easy to cook. Even my husband, who doesn't like most cooked fish, enjoys these steaks. A sprinkling of cracked black pepper is a good finisher for this dish.

¼ cup soy sauce
¼ cup extra-virgin olive oil
2 tablespoons lemon juice
2 teaspoons Asian (toasted) sesame oil
2 teaspoons molasses
1 teaspoon cayenne pepper, or more to taste
6 thin slices fresh ginger, minced
2 cloves garlic, minced
2 1-inch-thick tuna steaks, thawed

Steps:

  • Mix soy sauce, olive oil, lemon juice, sesame oil, molasses, cayenne pepper, ginger, and garlic together in a bowl.
  • Place tuna steaks in a large resealable bag or airtight container; pour marinade over steaks. Marinate steaks at room temperature for 20 minutes.
  • Heat a non-stick pan over medium heat. Remove steaks from marinade and arrange in the hot pan; gently shake pan to avoid sticking. Cook approximately 1 1/2 minutes and flip. Cook other side until tuna is desired doneness, 1 to 2 more minutes. An instant-read thermometer inserted into the center should read 140 degrees F (60 degrees C).

1 medium onion, sliced
2 tablespoons butter
1 package (5 ounces) spring mix salad greens
1/2 cup dried cranberries
1/4 cup crumbled blue cheese

Steps:

  • In a small bowl, combine 1 tablespoon brown sugar, salt, cinnamon, cayenne and pepper. Rub over both sides of steak. Brush with 1/4 cup vinaigrette. , Place steak on a broiler pan. Broil 4 in. from heat 5-6 minutes on each side or until meat reaches desired doneness (for medium-rare, a thermometer should read 135°; medium, 140°; medium-well, 145°)., Meanwhile, in a large skillet, saute onion in butter until tender, about 10 minutes. Add remaining brown sugar; cook and stir over medium heat until onion is browned, 5-10 minutes. , Cut steak across the grain into thin slices. In a large bowl, combine greens, cranberries, blue cheese, onion and beef. Drizzle with remaining vinaigrette; toss to coat.

½ teaspoon liquid smoke flavoring
1 pinch cayenne pepper

Steps:

  • In a medium bowl, mix the vinegar, soy sauce, garlic, honey, olive oil, ground black pepper, Worcestershire sauce, onion powder, salt, liquid smoke, and cayenne pepper.
  • Place steaks in a shallow glass dish with the marinade, and turn to coat. For optimum flavor, rub the liquid into the meat. Cover, and marinate in the refrigerator for 1 to 2 days.
  • Preheat grill for medium-high to high heat.

I got the original recipe on here (Steak Seasoning for the Steak House#18556 by Darin Craven). The orginal recipe is for restaurant use therefore has large measurements of the ingredients. At the suggestion of one of the reviewers, I scaled it down for home use. This seasoning can be used on any type of meat as well as on fish and poultry.

1-1/4 cups beef broth, divided
1/4 cup soy sauce
1-1/4 teaspoons ground ginger
1/2 teaspoon sugar
1/4 teaspoon pepper
1-1/2 pounds boneless round steak, cut into strips
1 garlic clove, minced
1/4 cup olive oil
4 medium green peppers, julienned
2 large tomatoes, peeled and chopped
3 tablespoons cornstarch
Hot cooked rice

Steps:

  • In a small bowl, combine 3/4 cup broth, soy sauce, ginger, sugar and pepper; set aside. , In a skillet or wok over medium-high heat, brown beef and garlic in oil. Add peppers and tomatoes. Cook and stir until peppers are crisp-tender, about 3 minutes. Stir the soy sauce mixture and add to pan. Cover and cook until the meat is tender, about 15 minutes., Combine cornstarch with the remaining broth until smooth; add to pan. Bring to a boil; cook and stir for 2 minutes. Serve over rice.

2 (10 ounce) cans condensed golden mushroom soup
1 1/2 cups hot thick & chunky salsa

Steps:

  • Trim fat from steak and ccut into serving size pieces.
  • Sprinkle with pepper, and place in a 5-6 quart slow cooker sprayed with vegetable cooking spray.
  • Place onion slices over steaks.
  • Combine mushroom soup, and salsa and mix well. Spoon over steak and onions.
  • Cover and cook on low for 7-8 hours.

Allow the meat to cook, undisturbed, for 3–4 minutes until the first side is nicely browned. Stir and continue to cook about 3–4 more minutes, until mostly cooked through, stirring occasionally.
  • Add onions, carrots and celery then cook for 5 minutes, just until softened then add mushrooms and garlic. Continue to cook mixture on medium-high heat until mushrooms are quite brown and all of the liquid from mushrooms has cooked off.
