Herbed Cheese Puffs image

Filled with a savory cheese and herb mixture, these puffy biscuits are simple, delicious and make a great party appetizer. I have made these for years and they are always a hit!

Number Of Ingredients 8

1 (4 ounce) package grated Parmesan cheese
4 ounces Romano cheese, grated
1 cup mayonnaise
2 teaspoons minced fresh basil
2 teaspoons minced fresh oregano
1 bunch green onions, chopped
1 clove garlic, minced
1 (12 ounce) can refrigerated biscuit dough

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C). Lightly grease a large baking sheet.
  • In a medium bowl, mix together Parmesan cheese, Romano cheese, mayonnaise, basil, oregano, green onions and garlic.
  • Separate each unbaked biscuit vertically into 3 pieces. Spread 1 tablespoon cheese mixture on each piece.
  • Arrange pieces in a single layer on baking sheet. Bake in the preheated oven 10 to 12 minutes, or until puffed and golden brown. Serve warm!

I love to create cheesecakes. My husband makes wine. Today I created one that will pair nicely with crackers, veggies, fruit and a bottle of wine. Voila, my savory herb cheesecake.... It's what's for dinner!

1 cup(s) wheat thin crackers, crushed
1/4 cup(s) butter, melted
8 ounce(s) cream cheese
1/2 cup(s) ricotta cheese
1/2 cup(s) parmesan cheese, shredded
1/4 olive oil
1 cup(s) fresh basil leaves
2 rosemary sprigs
thyme, leaves
chives, bunch
1 clove(s) garlic
2 eggs

Steps:

  • Add melted butter to crushed crackers. Press in bottom of a springform pan. Bake 350 degrees for 10 minutes.
  • Mix cream cheese with ricotta. Set aside. In food processor, add herbs, garlic and olive oil. Chop. Add to cheese mixture. Add Parmesan cheese. Mix well. Add eggs one at a time. When mixed, pour over crust. Bake 325 degrees for 35-40 minutes.
  • Run knife around edge. Cool for 10 minutes. Remove rim. Let cool. Add a sprig of rosemary, thyme and basil leaves for decoration. Serve with crackers, fruit, vegetables, wine or whatever you wish.

Kick off Thanksgiving in style by greeting guests with these savory pastries.

1 sheet thawed puff pastry (from a 17.3-ounce package)
1 tablespoon extra-virgin olive oil
1/4 cup grated extra sharp cheddar
3 tablespoons grated Parmesan
3 tablespoons chopped fresh herbs (such as thyme, sage, and oregano)
1/4 teaspoon coarse salt
1 large egg yolk
1/2 teaspoon water

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 375 degrees, with racks in upper and lower thirds. On a lightly floured surface, roll out puff pastry to a 10-by-16-inch rectangle. Brush with olive oil and sprinkle with cheddar, Parmesan, herbs, and salt. Fold dough lengthwise into thirds (like a letter), then fold in half. Refrigerate until slightly firm, about 10 minutes. Cut dough crosswise into 1/4-inch-thick slices (you should have about 38).
  • Place slices on 2 large baking sheets. Refrigerate until firm, about 30 minutes. (To store, cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate, up to 1 day.) In a bowl, combine egg yolk with water. Brush tops of palmiers with egg wash. Bake until golden brown, about 25 minutes, rotating sheets halfway through.
