This sauteed shrimp recipe comes out juicy and seasoned to perfection in less than 10 minutes! Here are the secrets to how to saute shrimp.

1 1/2 pounds medium shrimp, deveined (tail on or peeled)
3/4 teaspoon kosher salt
3/4 teaspoon smoked paprika (or substitute standard paprika)
3/4 teaspoon garlic powder
3/4 teaspoon onion powder
3/4 teaspoon cumin
3 tablespoons butter or olive oil
3 lemon wedges
Fresh cilantro or parsley, for garnish

Steps:

  • Thaw the shrimp, if frozen. Pat the shrimp dry. In a medium bowl, mix the shrimp with the salt, smoked paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, and cumin.
  • In a large skillet, heat the butter on medium high heat. Add the shrimp and cook for 1 to 2 minutes per side until just opaque and cooked through, turning them with tongs.
  • Spritz with juice of the lemon wedges and serve immediately.

1 kg prawns
1 1/2 cups butter
150 g chopped onions
2 crushed garlic cloves
1 glass water or 1 glass white wine
30 g finely chopped parsley
salt
red pepper

Steps:

  • . Wash the prawns thouroughly, breaking off the feelers or legs which are too long. Fry the chopped onion in a heavy frying pan until golden with butter. Add the prawns and continue cooking until they turn red in colour.
  • 2. Season and add a glass of water or dry white wine to the pan, then the crushed cloves of garlic and a light sprinkling of paprika. Cover the pan and allow to simmer for about 5 minutes. Check the seasoning, sprinkle over the fresh parsley and serve hot.

400 grams Prawns
5 cloves Garlic , grated
1 Onion , finely chopped
4 Spring Onion Greens , finely chopped
3 sprig Coriander (Dhania) Leaves , chopped
2 teaspoon Red Chilli powder
1 teaspoon Turmeric powder (Haldi)
1 tablespoon Nando's Peri Peri Chicken Sauce
4 Tablespoons Extra Virgin Olive Oil
Salt , to taste

Steps:

  • To begin making the Sauteed Spicy Prawns recipe, Deshell, devein the shrimps. Wash them well.
  • Apply a teaspoon each of red chili powder, turmeric powder and salt. Mix well and marinate for about 10 minutes.
  • Chop coriander leaves and keep aside. In a medium saucepan, heat oil. Fry onions on medium heat, till translucent.
  • Add grated garlic and fry on low heat for few seconds. Add few scallions.
  • Saute for a minute and add marinated shrimps. Mix well, cover and cook for about 10 minutes on medium heat. Remove cover.
  • Add chopped coriander leaves, mix well, cover and cook for a minute. Remove the cover and add Peri peri sauce or hot sauce and mix.
  • Remember, peri peri sauce already has salt, so I did not add extra salt in this recipe. Let it simmer on low heat for 5 more minutes.
  • Switch off the flame. Remove on a serving plate and garnish with scallion greens.
  • Serve Sauteed Spicy Prawns along with Shorshe Maach and Steamed Rice for a weekday meal.

SAUTéED GIANT PRAWNS WITH GARLIC AND CHILLI

Succulent prawns, fragrant garlic and warming chilli make this dish a quick and easy classic, perfect for any occasion.

100ml/3½fl oz olive oil
16 fresh giant prawns, peeled, heads intact
1 lemon, juice only
3 garlic cloves, thinly sliced
1 red chilli, finely chopped
2 tbsp olive oil
2 garlic cloves, finely chopped
250g/9oz fine green beans, blanched for 3 minutes
2 tbsp finely chopped fresh mint

Steps:

  • Heat the oil in a large frying pan until just sizzling. Increase the heat, add the prawns and fry until cooked through (about 3 minutes). Add the lemon juice, garlic and chilli and stir to combine. Remove from the heat and set aside.
  • For the salad, heat the oil in a medium pan and add the garlic, frying for 1-2 minutes until lightly coloured. Add the blanched beans and stir to combine.
  • To serve, add the prawns, a portion of the sauce and salad to individual bowls. Remove the heads from the prawns and squeeze all the wonderful juices into the sauce.

1 1/2 pounds large shrimp, tails on, peeled and deveined
2 tablespoons extra-virgin olive oil
Lemon wedges, for serving
4 garlic cloves, minced
2 tablespoons chopped fresh flat-leaf parsley
2 tablespoons chopped fresh oregano
Pinch of crushed red-pepper flakes
1/2 cup dry white wine
Coarse salt and freshly ground black pepper

Steps:

  • Heat oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add garlic, and cook until soft but not browned, 1 to 2 minutes. Add shrimp, parsley, oregano, and red-pepper flakes; cook, stirring frequently, until shrimp are bright pink and opaque, about 2 minutes.
  • Raise heat to medium-high, and add wine. Continue cooking until most of the liquid has evaporated. Remove from heat; season with salt and pepper. Serve hot, with lemon wedges on the side.

½ cup olive oil
1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
3 cloves garlic, minced
1 lemon, juiced
1 orange, juiced
1 teaspoon dried basil, or to taste
2 tablespoons white wine
30 tiger prawns, peeled and deveined

Steps:

  • In a glass dish, mix together the olive oil, mustard, garlic, lemon juice, orange juice, basil and white wine. Add the prawns, and stir to coat. Cover, and let marinate for 1 hour.
  • Heat an outdoor grill to high heat.
  • Thread prawns onto skewers. Grill for 3 to 5 minutes, turning once, until pink.
  • If desired, reserve marinade; transfer to a saucepan and bring to a boil. Reduce heat and simmer for 5 minutes. Serve with prawns.

2 lbs large raw tiger shrimp, in their shells, thawed if frozen
1/2 cup butter
1 tablespoon vegetable oil
6 garlic cloves, smashed
2 limes, juice and zest of
1 bunch fresh coriander, chopped
warm tortilla, to serve
lemon slice, for the finger bowls

Steps:

  • Rinse the prawns in a colander, remove their heads and leave them to drain.
  • Heat the butter and oil in a large frying pan, add the garlic and fry over a low heat for 2 to 3 minutes (Cook the prawns in a large frying pan or cast iron flamproof dish that can be taken directly to the table, so that they retain their heat until they are served).
  • Add the lime rind and juice.
  • Cook, stirring constantly, for 1 minute more.
  • Add the prawns and cook them for 2 to 3 minutes until they turn pink.
  • Remove them from the heat, sprinkle with coriander and serve with the warm tortillas.
  • Give each guest a finger bowl filled with water and a slice of lemon, for cleaning their fingers after shelling the prawns, and provide lots of paper napkins!

1 lemon
3 pounds uncooked medium shrimp, peeled and deveined
1 tablespoon olive oil
1 small onion, chopped
2 ribs celery, chopped
2 cloves garlic, crushed and chopped
salt and ground black pepper to taste
1 sprig fresh rosemary, chopped, or to taste
¼ teaspoon dried basil
¼ teaspoon dried oregano
¼ teaspoon ground coriander
1 bay leaf
¾ cup white wine, or to taste
1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce, or to taste

Steps:

  • Squeeze lemon over shrimp and set aside.
  • Heat olive oil over medium heat. Add onion, celery, and garlic. Season with salt and pepper and cook until tender, about 5 minutes. Stir in rosemary, basil, oregano, coriander, and bay leaf. Add white wine and Worcestershire sauce; cook until sauce is slightly reduced and flavors come together, 8 to 10 minutes.
  • Add shrimp to the sauce and cook until pink, 5 to 7 minutes more.

1 ½ tablespoons olive oil
1 pound shrimp, peeled and deveined
salt to taste
6 cloves garlic, finely minced
¼ teaspoon red pepper flakes
3 tablespoons lemon juice
1 tablespoon caper brine
1 ½ teaspoons cold butter
⅓ cup chopped Italian flat leaf parsley, divided
1 ½ tablespoons cold butter
water, as needed

Steps:

  • Heat olive oil in a heavy skillet over high heat until it just begins to smoke. Place shrimp in an even layer on the bottom of the pan and cook for 1 minute without stirring.
  • Season shrimp with salt; cook and stir until shrimp begin to turn pink, about 1 minute.
  • Stir in garlic and red pepper flakes; cook and stir 1 minute. Stir in lemon juice, caper brine, 1 1/2 teaspoon cold butter, and half the parsley.
  • Cook until butter has melted, about 1 minute, then turn heat to low and stir in 1 1/2 tablespoon cold butter. Cook and stir until all butter has melted to form a thick sauce and shrimp are pink and opaque, about 2 to 3 minutes.
  • Remove shrimp with a slotted spoon and transfer to a bowl; continue to cook butter sauce, adding water 1 teaspoon at a time if too thick, about 2 minutes. Season with salt to taste.
  • Serve shrimp topped with the pan sauce. Garnish with remaining flat-leaf parsley.
