EASY Sauteed Broccolini image

Easy Sauteed Broccolini is quickly made with extra-virgin olive oil, fresh garlic, crushed red pepper, and vegetable broth until they are tender to the bite. Easy, delicious, and healthy side dish for any entrée!

Number Of Ingredients 7

2 bunches Broccolini, ends slightly cut off
4 large garlic cloves, sliced
3 Tbsp. extra virgin olive oil
1/2 cup low-sodium vegetable or chicken broth
Optional: 1/8 tsp. crushed red pepper flakes
1/4 tsp. sea salt
fresh black pepper to taste

Steps:

  • Rinse broccolini in cold water, drain and set aside.
  • In a large non-stick skillet, and on medium heat, heat olive oil. Add garlic, crushed red pepper (optional), and sauté until garlic turns golden about 1 minute.
  • Immediately add the broccolini, sauté for one minute. Add the broth and cover with a lid for about 3 to 5 minutes, turning once. When the broth is mostly absorbed, turn off the heat, add salt & pepper to taste and serve. Broccolini should be tender and slightly crunchy.
  • Serves 4

2 tablespoons olive oil (light is best)
1 teaspoon dried red pepper flakes
4 garlic cloves, minced
1/2 cup chicken broth
2 lbs broccoli

Steps:

  • Cut broccoli into bite sized pieces.
  • Boil in salted water for about 5 to 7 minutes (broccoli should just start to soften).
  • Rinse under COLD water (to stop the cooking).
  • Dry to remove any excess water.
  • In a large skillet, heat the oil until hot.
  • Add the garlic and pepper flakes.
  • Sauté for 1 minute.
  • Add the broccoli and "some" of the broth. (I say "some" as you don't want it soaking in it, you just want it to help steam and add flavor)
  • Cook for 2 to 4 minutes (depending on the way you like your broccoli, tender or crisp) stirring the entire time. Season lightly with table salt.
  • As everyone has their own tastes, increase or decrease the garlic and or pepper flakes as desired.

1/4 cup olive oil
2 garlic cloves, finely chopped
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon black pepper

Steps:

  • Cook Broccolini in a 6- to 8-quart pot of boiling salted water until stems are crisp-tender, about 5 minutes, then drain in a colander.
  • Heat 2 tablespoons oil in a 12-inch heavy skillet over moderately high heat until hot but not smoking, then sauté half of garlic, stirring, until pale golden, about 30 seconds. Add half of Broccolini, 1/4 teaspoon salt, and 1/8 teaspoon pepper and cook, stirring, until heated through, about 2 minutes. Transfer to a serving dish and repeat with remaining ingredients.

6 cups broccoli florets and 1-inch pieces of peeled stem (about 1 head broccoli)
Red pepper flakes (to finish, optional)

Steps:

  • In a medium skillet with a lid, heat the olive oil over medium high heat, then add the garlic (1 teaspoon for a milder garlicky flavor, 2 teaspoons for a full-on garlicky flavor) and swish it around for about 30 seconds until you can smell it. Add the broccoli and stir and toss to coat with the oil. Season with salt and pepper, add 1/4 cup of water, cover the pan, and steam until the water is evaporated and the broccoli is tender. Sprinkle with the red pepper flakes if desired. Serve hot.

4 bunches broccolini (1 1/2 pounds)
3 tablespoons good olive oil

Steps:

  • In a large pot, bring 8 cups of water and the salt to a boil. Remove and discard the bottom third of the broccolini stems. If some stems are very thick, cut them in half lengthwise.
  • When the water comes to a full boil, add the broccolini, return to a boil, and cook over high heat for 2 minutes, until the stalks are crisp tender. Drain and immediately immerse the broccolini in a large bowl filled with ice water to stop the cooking. Drain in a colander and set aside.
  • Heat the oil in a saute pan. Add the garlic and cook over low heat, stirring occasionally, for 1 to 2 minutes. Add the broccolini and stir until heated through.

Steps:

  • Rinse broccolini and shake dry. Trim the tips of the broccolini.
  • Heat vegetable oil in a large pan over medium high heat. Add broccolini and 2 tablespoons water, stir fry until tender crisp, about 6-8 minutes.
  • Move the broccolini to one side of the pan and in the center add butter, garlic, soy sauce, & chili flakes if using. Cook until fragrant, about 30 seconds then mix together with broccolini.
  • Season with salt & pepper to taste and serve.
