ALL-AMERICAN BANANA SPLIT
In 1904, the first banana split recipe was made here in Latrobe, Pennsylvania by David Strickler, an apprentice pharmacist at a local drug store. We still use his original formula when we make banana splits in our restaurants. -Melissa Blystone, Valley Dairy

- Place banana in a dessert dish; place scoops of ice cream between banana. Top with remaining ingredients. Serve immediately.

CARAMELIZED BANANA SPLIT
Steps:
- Cut bananas in half lengthwise and then in half again crosswise. Pour sugar onto a small plate. Dip the cut sides of the bananas in the sugar, and caramelize under the broiler or with a blowtorch.
- Place a scoop of each flavor of ice cream in a martini glass. Place 2 pieces of caramelized bananas at the back of the glass like rabbit ears. Drizzle with chocolate sauce, then spoonfuls of marshmallow sauce and pineapple sauce, then sprinkle with chopped nuts. Garnish with a big sprig of mint.
CINNAMON SAUTEED BANANAS
I believe this is an old Helen Corbitt recipe. It is an excellent, easy dessert and complements so many things.

Steps:
- Cut bananas crosswise into 1/4" slices.
- Toss slices in a bowl with the sugar, cinnamon and lemon juice.
- Heat saute pan over medium-high heat, add butter.
- When butter is bubbly, add the bananas.
- Holding the pan by the handle, toss the bananas every 10 seconds or so for 2-3 minutes until tender.
- (The slices should hold their shape and be carmelized) Serve on a warm plate-- good with ice cream or angel food cake or by itself!
"PEANUT BUTTER & JELLY" BREAKFAST BANANA SPLITS

- Add each sliced banana to a bowl or dish, so each half is slightly turned out (as if to fill the sliced banana).
- Divide the remaining ingredients, and dollop about 1/4 cup of the yogurt over each banana in two scoops.
- Sprinkle the raspberries and granola over the bananas.
- Warm the peanut butter in the microwave in 20-second increments, stirring until smooth and runny, then drizzle over the tops of each banana.
- Add the whipped topping and candy sprinkles over the tops.

- In a small saucepan, combine 1/2 cup cream, 1 tablespoon butter and 2 tablespoons sugar over medium heat and bring to a boil. Remove from heat and stir in chopped chocolate until smooth. Set aside.
- In medium bowl, whip 1/4 cup cream with electric mixer until stiff peaks form. Set aside.
- In large skillet melt 1 tablespoon butter over medium heat. Sprinkle 1 tablespoon sugar evenly over surface of pan and cook until it begins to turn golden. Place bananas cut side down in pan and pour rum over bananas. Continue to cook, basting with sauce, until bananas begin to soften.
- To serve, place two warm banana slices on a plate, spoon a little rum sauce over the top, drizzle with chocolate sauce and top with whipped cream.

- In a glass measuring cup, melt the chocolate chips, peanut butter, and coconut oil for about 45 seconds to a minute
- **NOTE: it may not look melted, but give it a stir and if it is, no need to microwave longer. If it's not melted completely, add back into the microwave for 5 second increments
- Peel and slice your banana and add the banana to 3 seperate glasses or bowls (1 banana per glass/bowl)
- Next, pour the chocolate sauce evenly over top of the bananas in each of the glasses/bowls leaving just a little bit for pouring over top (if desired)
