BEST ITALIAN SAUSAGE PIZZA BURGERS

Best Italian Sausage Pizza Burgers image

Italian Sausage Pizza Burgers are the best of both worlds (pizza and burgers), and they take less time to get on the table than traditional delivery from your local pizza joint.

Provided by Renee Goerger

Categories     burgers     dinner

Time 30m

Number Of Ingredients 13

2 pounds bulk Italian Sausage
2 teaspoons garlic powder, (plus more for the buns)
1 teaspoon dried oregano
1 teaspoon dried basil
1 medium green bell peppers, (sliced)
1 medium sweet onion, (sliced)
1 tablespoon olive oil
8 slices mozzarella cheese
8 hamburger buns
4 tablespoons butter, (softened)
1 cup prepared marinara sauce, (warmed)
2 teaspoons salt
1 teaspoon pepper

Steps:

  • Preheat grill (or grill pan) to medium/high.
  • In a large bowl, mix together the sausage, pepper, garlic powder, oregano, and basil.
  • Divide the meat mixture into 8 equal portions and shape each portion into burger patties.
  • Grill the patties on a preheated grill (or grill pan) for approximately 7-8 minutes per side (cover for half of the cooking time).
  • Meanwhile, in a grill basket (or a large stovetop skillet), season and cook the green peppers and onions with the salt and olive oil until they are slightly wilted and no longer crunchy. Stirring occasionally.
  • Place the cheese on the burgers and cook just until the cheese has melted. Remove from the grill and keep warm.
  • Spread the softened butter on both sides of the buns and season with garlic powder to taste.
  • Place the buns (butter side down) on the grill, or skillet, and cook until they're browned and lightly crispy.
  • Place a burger on a bun, top with prepared warmed marinara sauce, and the sauteed green pepper and onions.
  • Serve hot.

HOMEMADE BREAKFAST SAUSAGE PATTIES

Homemade Breakfast Sausage Patties image

Homemade breakfast sausage patties are easy to make. You can double the recipe and freeze some breakfast sausage patties for next time. This homemade breakfast sausage recipe is a recipe every brunch lover needs.

Provided by The Worktop

Categories     Breakfast     Brunch     Meats

Time 40m

Number Of Ingredients 7

2.2 pounds ground pork
2 tablespoons maple syrup
1 1/2 teaspoons sea salt
1 teaspoon coarse ground black pepper
1 teaspoon garlic granules
3/4 teaspoon dried thyme
1/2 teaspoon dried sage

Steps:

  • In a large bowl, mix everything together. The best way is to use your hands and really mix it all together. You can also use your stand mixer with the paddle attachment.
  • There are a few different ways you can do this. I like to use a large cookie scoop / ice cream scoop. I lightly pack the meat into the scoop, release the scoop, then flatten it with my palm. Alternatively, you can just divide the meat into 12 rough balls, and shape each ball into a sausage patty. Lastly, you can also roll out the meat between parchment paper, then cut the sausages with a round cookie cutter / lip of a cup.
  • Make 12 equal sized sausage patties. I make them about 1-inch thick if I am going to cook them straight away, but you can make according to your preference.
  • If you are going to freeze half the batch, make the ones you are going to freeze no thicker than 1/2-inch, if you plan on cooking from frozen. Otherwise, you will need to defrost the sausage patties before cooking.
  • Heat some oil in a non-stick skillet over medium-high heat. Add the patties (you might need to do it in batches) and cook the first side for about 3-4 minutes, or until browned. Flip then cook the other side until browned and the sausage is cooked through. The most reliable way to to check if a sausage patty is cooked through is to use an instant read thermometer. The internal temperature of each sausage patty should be 160°F / 71°C.
  • If you are cooking from frozen, follow the same instructions, but you will need to slightly increase the cooking time. If the sausages are browned but not cooked through, turn the heat down and finish cooking.

Number Of Ingredients 12

1/2 teaspoon Sriracha
1/2 teaspoon pure maple syrup
1 sesame-seed hamburger bun
1 lettuce leaf
1 tomato slice
3 to 4 thin rings red onion
4 ounces bulk breakfast sausage
1 teaspoon vegetable oil
1 slice Cheddar

Steps:

  • Mix together the mayonnaise, Sriracha and maple syrup in a small bowl. Spread on the inside of both bun halves. Stack the lettuce, tomato and onion on the bottom bun.

Lay the Cheddar on the patty, cover the skillet and cook until the Cheddar melts, about 30 seconds. Remove, and set the patty on the bottom bun.
  • Crack the egg into the skillet over medium-high heat, sprinkle with some salt and pepper and cook until the egg whites are set and crispy on the bottom and edges and the yolk is still runny, 2 to 3 minutes. Set the egg on top of the sausage patty, and top with the other bun half. Eat right away.

SIMPLE HOMEMADE SAUSAGE PATTIES

Simple Homemade Sausage Patties image

Assembling pork sausages is a snap and, as always, if you use best-quality ingredients, it's hard to beat homemade. From the book "Mad Hungry," by Lucinda Scala Quinn (Artisan Books).

Provided by Martha Stewart

Categories     Food & Cooking     Breakfast & Brunch Recipes

Yield Makes 8 small patties

Number Of Ingredients 10

1 pound ground pork
1 garlic clove, minced
1 tablespoon dried sage, crumbled
3/4 teaspoon dried thyme
1/2 teaspoon dried fennel, crushed
Pinch of ground nutmeg
1 1/2 teaspoons coarse salt
1/2 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
1 large egg white
2 teaspoons vegetable oil

Steps:

  • Mix together the pork, garlic, sage, thyme, fennel, nutmeg, salt, and pepper in a medium bowl. Add the egg white and combine thoroughly. Cover and chill for at least 15 minutes.
  • To easily form the sausage patties, rinse your hands in cold water. Divide the mixture into eighths and shape each portion into a 2 1/2-inch disk. Patties can be made to this point and refrigerated or frozen until ready to use.
  • Heat a skillet over high heat, and then swirl in the oil. Fry the sausages on both sides until completely cooked through and golden brown, about 4 minutes per side. Drain and serve immediately with pancakes, waffles or eggs. Sausage patties can be fully cooled, wrapped, and frozen for microwave reheating.

SAUSAGE PATTY ON A BUN

Sausage Patty on a Bun image

Whenever we go to the farmers market in the big city, I have to have a sausage patty on a bun. Everything is fried, but I have tried to modify it a bit.

Provided by Lori Mama

Categories     Lunch/Snacks

Time 45m

Yield 4 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 8

4 large lean pork sausage, any flavor
4 eggs
4 hamburger buns (I use the Italian type)
4 medium onions, sliced thinly
2 tablespoons butter
1 teaspoon sugar
salt and pepper
condiments

Steps:

  • Take sausage meat out of their casings and combine as one. Form 4 patties out of the meat.
  • At this point you can decide whether to fry (no fat needed) in a pan, bbq or broil them. I usually bbq or broil. Cook until done.
  • In the meantime sauté the sliced onions in the butter with sugar until soft and browned. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  • Fry the eggs individually as you like them, breaking the yolks as you do. Flip and cook on other side.
  • Toast the buns lightly. Place a patty on the bun, top with egg and onions.
  • Add any condiments you like, however only mustard is required. I use the honey type.
