1 lb bulk Italian sausage
1/2 cup chopped onion
1 clove garlic, finely chopped
2 cups sliced fresh mushrooms
1 box Hamburger Helper™ lasagna
2 cans (14.5 oz each ) Muir Glen™ organic diced tomatoes with Italian herbs, undrained
2 tablespoons Muir Glen™ tomato paste (from 6-oz can)
4 cups water
1/2 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes
1/4 teaspoon ground pepper
2 cups baby spinach
1/2 cup shredded Parmesan cheese

Steps:

  • In 5-quart Dutch oven or saucepan, cook sausage, onion and garlic over medium-high heat 4 to 6 minutes, stirring occasionally, until sausage is thoroughly cooked; drain. Add mushrooms; cook 2 minutes longer.
  • Stir in sauce mix (from Hamburger Helper™ box), tomatoes, tomato paste, water, pepper flakes and pepper. Heat to boiling, stirring constantly.
  • Reduce heat. Cover; simmer 10 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  • Stir in uncooked pasta (from Hamburger Helper™ box) and spinach. Cover; cook 10 minutes longer or until pasta is tender. Sprinkle with Parmesan cheese.

8 ounces lasagna noodles, broken into pieces (about 10 noodles)
1 tablespoon extra-virgin olive oil, plus more for drizzling
1 onion, chopped
1/2 pound hot or sweet Italian sausage, casings removed
3 cloves garlic, chopped
1 teaspoon dried oregano
2 tablespoons tomato paste
4 cups low-sodium chicken broth
1 15-ounce can crushed or diced tomatoes
1/2 cup chopped fresh basil, plus thinly sliced leaves for topping
1/3 cup grated parmesan cheese (plus more for sprinkling, optional)
1/4 cup heavy cream or half-and-half
Ricotta cheese, for topping

Steps:

  • Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the noodles and cook as the label directs. Drain; drizzle with olive oil and toss.
  • Meanwhile, heat 1 tablespoon olive oil in a large Dutch oven or heavy-bottomed pot over medium-high heat. Add the onion and cook, stirring, until softened, about 4 minutes. Add the sausage, garlic and oregano and cook, stirring and breaking up the sausage with a wooden spoon, until the sausage is browned, about 3 minutes. Add the tomato paste and cook, stirring, until darkened, about 2 minutes.
  • Add the chicken broth, tomatoes and 1 cup water; cover and bring to a simmer. Uncover and cook until slightly reduced, about 10 minutes. Stir in the noodles, basil, parmesan and heavy cream; simmer 2 more minutes.
  • Divide the soup among bowls. Top with ricotta and sliced basil.

1 pound bulk Italian sausage
1 medium onion, chopped
2 garlic cloves, minced
1 can (6 ounces) tomato paste
1 can (28 ounces) crushed tomatoes
1 can (8 ounces) tomato sauce
3 teaspoons dried basil
3/4 teaspoon pepper, divided
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 large egg, lightly beaten
1 carton (15 ounces) whole-milk ricotta cheese
1-1/2 cups grated Parmesan cheese, divided
12 no-cook lasagna noodles
4 cups shredded part-skim mozzarella cheese

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 400°. In a large skillet, cook and crumble sausage with onion over medium heat until no longer pink, 5-7 minutes; drain. Add garlic and tomato paste; cook and stir 1 minute. , Stir in tomatoes, tomato sauce, basil, 1/2 teaspoon pepper and salt; bring to a boil. Reduce heat; simmer, uncovered, until slightly thickened, 10-15 minutes., In a bowl, mix egg, ricotta cheese, 1-1/4 cups Parmesan cheese and the remaining pepper. Spread 1-1/2 cups meat sauce into a greased 13x9-in. baking dish. Layer with 4 noodles, 1-1/2 cups ricotta cheese mixture, 1-1/2 cups mozzarella cheese and 1-1/2 cups sauce. Repeat layers. Top with the remaining noodles, sauce and mozzarella and Parmesan cheeses., Cover with greased foil; bake 30 minutes. Uncover; bake until lightly browned and heated through, 5-10 minutes. Let stand 15 minutes before serving.

1 pound hot Italian sausage
1 pound mild Italian sausage
2 sweet onions, chopped

Steps:

  • Heat olive oil in a large pot over medium heat. Cook hot and mild sausage, stirring to break up into pieces, until browned, about 5 minutes. Add onions; cook and stir until translucent, about 5 minutes. Stir in garlic, oregano, and red pepper flakes; cook until fragrant, about 2 minutes.
  • Stir tomato paste into the paste. Fill tomato paste can with water and pour in; mix well. Pour in beef broth, diced tomatoes, crushed tomatoes, and wine. Stir in basil sprigs, salt, and pepper. Bring soup to a boil; reduce heat and simmer until flavors combine, at least 30 minutes.

1 onion (peeled and diced)
1 carrot (scrubbed or peeled and diced)

1 jar marinara or spaghetti sauce
1 can diced tomatoes or tomato puree (28 ounces)
8 cups chicken broth (or beef broth)
3 cups campanelle pasta (or broken lasagna noodles, rotini, elbows, small shells, or other small shaped noodles)
1 cup ricotta cheese
1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
1/4 teaspoon granulated garlic (or garlic powder)
fresh parsley and basil

Steps:

  • Press the sausage into the bottom of a large soup pot into a patty. Place the pot over medium high heat and let cook for 4 minutes undisturbed, then use a spoon to break up the sausage.
  • Add the diced onion and carrot and stir into the sausage. Continue cooking until the sausage is well browned. Add the garlic and cook for 1 minute, or until fragrant.
  • Add the marinara or spaghetti sauce, diced tomatoes or tomato puree, and broth, and raise the heat to high, bringing the mixture to a boil.
  • Drop the heat to medium low and simmer until the carrots are tender. Stir in the pasta and cook until the pasta is tender.
  • In a small mixing bowl, smash together the ricotta cheese, mozzarella, and granulated garlic. Remove the soup from the heat and stir in the cheese mixture until evenly distributed.

1/2 cup onion (chopped)
1 lb hot or sweet bulk Italian sausage
4 cloves garlic (finely minced)
28 oz can crushed tomatoes
4 cups chicken stock or broth
1 tbsp oregano
1/2 tsp red pepper flakes (optional)
1 tbsp balsamic vinegar
Salt (to taste)
1-2 tbsp brown sugar (optional)
8 oz lasagna noodles (broken up)
2 cups shredded mozzarella
1 or 2 torn fresh basil leaves for each bowl as a garnish (it adds flavor too)
Grated Parmesan for garnish

Steps:

  • Heat oil in a large dutch oven over medium heat. Add onion and cook, stirring frequently, until it's translucent.
  • In the same pot, brown the sausage meat and onion until fully cooked; drain fat from the pan.
  • Add the garlic and cook until garlic is fragrant.
  • Stir in the tomatoes, balsamic vinegar, red pepper flakes (if using) and oregano. Add the stock. Taste and salt to taste. If it tastes too sour for your taste, stir in 1-2 tbs brown sugar.
  • Cook until the soup begins to simmer. Place the broken-up lasagna noodles to the soup. Cook until pasta is al dente, about 10 minutes.
  • Stir in the shredded cheese.
  • Serve and top each bowl with Parmesan cheese and the torn basil.
