EASY BEEF TERIYAKI

Easy Beef Teriyaki image

Easy 20 Minute Beef Teriyaki. Tender, juicy and smothered with a homemade teriyaki sauce. So much better than takeout!

Provided by Kelley Simmons

Number Of Ingredients 12

1 pound flank steak (sliced against the grain and cut into bite size pieces)
1/4 cup cornstarch
3 tablespoons oil (divided)
1 garlic clove (minced)
½ teaspoon ginger (minced)
½ cup soy sauce
½ cup mirin
4 tablespoons brown sugar
½ teaspoon sesame oil
a couple of dashes of fish sauce
1 teaspoon cornstarch
1 tablespoon water

Steps:

  • Toss the beef in the cornstarch and place in the fridge for 10 minutes while you are making the sauce and heating up the oil.
  • Heat 2 tablespoons of oil in a large skillet.
  • When the oil is nice and hot add in the steak (I had to do two batches to avoid overcrowding the pan). Sauté until browned on both side, 3-4 minutes. Remove from the pan and set aside.
  • Add the remaining tablespoon of oil to the same pan.
  • Add in garlic and ginger and cook for 1-2 minutes.
  • In a small bowl combine soy sauce, mirin, brown sugar, sesame oil and fish sauce.
  • Pour the soy sauce mixture into the pan and bring to a simmer and cook for 2-3 minutes.
  • In a small bowl mix together the cornstarch and water.
  • Slowly pour in the cornstarch mixture whisking continuously. Continue to cook until your desired thickness.
  • Add steak back to the pan and toss to coat the beef with the sauce.
  • Serve immediately with green onions and sesame seeds if desired.

PROSCIUTTO-WRAPPED BEEF CUBES WITH MUSTARD PAN SAUCE

Prosciutto-Wrapped Beef Cubes with Mustard Pan Sauce image

Provided by Sunny Anderson

Time 25m

Yield 4 servings

Number Of Ingredients 10

1 pound tender cut beef, cut into roughly 2-inch cubes to make 12 pieces
Freshly ground black pepper
1/4 pound prosciutto
1 tablespoon olive oil
1 tablespoon butter
1 small shallot, diced
1/2 cup chicken stock
1 tablespoon coarse-grain mustard
2 tablespoons heavy cream
2 tablespoons freshly chopped parsley leaves

Steps:

  • Sprinkle beef on all sides with black pepper. Wrap beef cubes with enough prosciutto to cover entirely. Be sure that prosciutto doesn't overlap more than once. Place wrapped cubes seam side down on a plate. In a large skillet over medium heat, add oil and butter. When butter has melted add beef cubes, seam-side down to seal, then saute until crisp on all sides, about 8 to 10 minutes for medium rare. Remove beef and let rest 5 minutes before serving. Add shallots to pan and saute 1 minute to soften. Add chicken stock and scrape up brown bits stuck to the bottom of the pan with a wooden spoon. Whisk in mustard and heavy cream and cook 1 minute more to thicken sauce. Remove from heat. Season, to taste, with salt and pepper and garnish with parsley.

HOMEMADE SPAGHETTI SAUCE WITH BEEF CHUNKS

Homemade Spaghetti Sauce with Beef Chunks image

Although my mother used to make spaghetti sauce with hamburger, we've both tried it with other meats, and I really enjoy blade simmering steak instead of hamburger in the sauce. The nice thing about spaghetti sauce is that I can toss in any leftover vegetables I might have in the fridge, which always gives the sauce a new flavour.

Categories     Beef/Pork     Low Carb     Low Carb Beef/Pork     Dinner     Beef/Pork Dinner

Yield 10

Number Of Ingredients 8

2 pounds simmering blade steak, cut into cubes
2 large onions, diced
2 cans of mushrooms, drained
1 large carrot, diced into small cubes
1 large can of tomatoes
1 Tbsp dried oregano
1 Tbsp dried basil
2 tsp pepper (or to taste)

Steps:

  • In a non-stick dutch oven or very large frying pan, fry the steak until brown on all sides (it shouldn't be cooked all the way through). Remove from pan, reserve liquid.
  • Return liquid to pan, add onions and gently simmer for 5-10 minutes, depending on how soft you like your onions. Add mushrooms and stir-fry on medium heat until all liquid has evaporated and onions are soft.
  • Return beef to pan, and add remaining ingredients. Bring to a slight boil, then turn heat to just above simmer. Cover and simmer for at least 90 minutes, longer will enhance flavour and tenderness of beef.
  • Serve with your favourite pasta, rice or add some kidney beans and serve as a chili.
  • Makes 10 servings.
  • Freezes well for another day.
