SALISBURY STEAK
This recipe has been in my family for years. It's easy to cook, but tastes like it took hours to make! I usually make enough extra sauce to pour over mashed potatoes. YUM!

- In a large bowl, mix together 1/3 cup condensed French onion soup with ground beef, bread crumbs, egg, salt and black pepper. Shape into 6 oval patties.
- In a large skillet over medium-high heat, brown both sides of patties. Pour off excess fat.
- In a small bowl, blend flour and remaining soup until smooth. Mix in ketchup, water, Worcestershire sauce and mustard powder. Pour over meat in skillet. Cover, and cook for 20 minutes, stirring occasionally.

SALISBURY STEAK RECIPE
We're cooking up Salisbury Steak with Onions and Gravy. It's one of those traditional Southern comfort food items you'll find on the menu at Mom and Pop style restaurants and diners throughout the South. Fresh ground beef, caramelized onions and a rich brown gravy make this one more delicious item to serve to your family and friends.

- In a mixing bowl, combine the Beef, Black Pepper, Salt, Garlic Powder, Worcestershire Sauce, Bread Crumbs and one whole Egg. Stir mixture together well.
- Shape into 4 equal sized patties.
- Heat a skillet over medium heat for about a minute, and then add Butter.
- Place meat patties in skillet and brown on both sides for about 4-5 minutes each. Remove from skillet and set aside.
- Add the sliced Onion into the skillet, right on top of the browned bits.
- Reduce the heat and cook the onions on medium-low heat until the onions turn translucent and brown. Don't rush this step. Cook the onions low and slow for about 20-25 minutes.
- Sprinkle 2 Tablespoons of flour over the onions. Stir. Let cook and brown for about 2 minutes.
- Add 2 cups of warm Water. Stir well. Raise the heat back up to about medium.
- Add 2 teaspoons of Beef Bouillon Granules. Stir Well.
- Place the meat patties back in the pan. Cover. Reduce heat just a little and let simmer for about 15 more minutes. Remove from heat and serve warm.
- Enjoy!
EASY SALISBURY STEAK

- For the Steaks In a large mixing bowl, combine the beef, breadcrumbs, egg, Worcestershire sauce, and salt and pepper. Shape the mixture into 4 equal sized hamburger shaped patties. Heat up Olive Oil in a skillet over Medium Heat. Once hot, add beef patties to heat, lying flat in a single layer. Cook 5-6 minutes on each side, until heated through (patties should be a minimum of 160 degrees. For the Gravy Follow package directions. I use McCormick Brown Gravy, purchased in bulk. The instructions say, Stir water gradually into Gravy Mix with whisk in small saucepan. Stirring frequently, cook on medium heat until gravy comes to boil. Reduce heat and simmer 1 minute. (Gravy will thicken upon standing.) Serve over Salisbury Steak. *Can double recipe to have enough to pour over mashed potatoes! Mushrooms and Onions Melt the butter in the skillet. Add the onion and mushroom slices. Saute until onion slices are translucent and soft. Plate one Salisbury Steak patty per person, top with onions & mushrooms, then gravy. Serve and enjoy!

BOBBY FLAY SALISBURY STEAK

- Heat 2 tablespoons of vegetable oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add the diced onion and saute until translucent, about 4 minutes. Then, add the garlic and cook further until fragrant, about 40 -60 seconds. Allow to cool down for 1-2 minutes.
- In a large bowl mix together the ground beef, the cooked onion, garlic, egg, tomato sauce, yellow mustard, Worcestershire sauce, Panko breadcrumbs, 1 tsp dried oregano, salt, and 1/4 tsp pepper. Mix with your hands JUST until combined. Don't overmix otherwise the steaks will be tough.
- Form 4-5 oval steaks.
- Heat the remaining 2 tablespoons of oil in the same skillet. Brown the steaks in batches, about for 2 minutes ( 1 minute per side). Transfer to a plate. The steaks won't be cooked yet.
- In the same skillet heat 1 tablespoon of oil over medium heat. Saute onion until browned, about 5 minutes. Add the mushrooms and cook further until golden.
- Return the steaks back to the skillet, pour the beef broth; add onion powder, garlic powder, salt, pepper and Worcestershire sauce. Bring to a boil, cover and cook for 15 minutes.
- Combine cornstarch with water. Gradually add the mixture into the skillet. Cook for 5 minutes or until the sauce thickens slightly. The steaks are done, when the internal temperature reaches 160 F (71 C).
- Serve with mashed potatoes. Enjoy!

- 1. Combine ground chuck, parsley, scallion, salt and pepper in a medium bowl. Divide evenly into 4 portions and shape each into oval patties. Place 2 Tbsp. flour in a shallow dish; dredge each patty in the flour. Reserve 1 tsp. flour.
- 2. Heat 1 Tbsp. oil in a saute pan over medium-high heat. Add patties and saute 3 minutes on each side or until browned. Remove from pan.
- 3. Add onions and sugar to pan; saute for 5 minutes. Stir in the garlic and tomato paste; saute 1 minute, or until paste begins to brown.
- 4. Sprinkle the onions with reserved flour; cook 1 minute. Stir in broth and wine, then add the salt and thyme.
- 5. Return meat to pan and bring to a boil. Reduce heat to medium-low, cover and simmer 10 minutes.
- 6. Serve over mashed potatoes or noodles.

- 1. In a large bowl, combine onion, saltines, egg substitute and pepper. Add beef; mix lightly but thoroughly. Shape into five patties.
- 2. In a large skillet, heat oil over medium heat. Add patties; cook 3-4 minutes on each side or until lightly browned. Remove beef patties and keep warm; discard drippings.
- 3. Combine water, onion soup mix and flour; stir into skillet. Bring to a boil. Return patties to skillet. Reduce heat; simmer, covered, 5-7 minutes or until meat is no longer pink.

- In a medium bowl, add the bread and milk to make a panade. Gently push the bread into the milk and set aside for 5 minutes. In a larger mixing bowl, add the beef, 3/4 tsp salt, 3/4 tsp pepper, and the rest of the ingredients. Add the panade mixture (including any leftover milk) to the beef mixture and gently mix until combined.
- To the pan used to make the Salisbury Steak patties add the 2 Tbl of butter and allow to melt. Add in the mushrooms and shallots and gently stir. Cook for 5-6 minutes or until the shallots start to soften and the mushrooms just start to release their water. You’re not cooking the mushrooms all the way down. Spoon out the mushrooms and shallots and place overtop the Salisbury steak patties.
- Place the 9×13” pan into the oven, uncovered and bake for 35-45 minutes or until the Salisbury Steak patties read 165F.
