Homemade Rice Seasoning Mix image

Number Of Ingredients 9

5 tbsp low or no sodium, no msg beef bouillon granules
3 tbsp dried parsley flakes
2 tbsp dried minced onion
2 tbsp dried soup greens, optional
4 tsp dried basil
2 tsp dried thyme
1 tsp garlic powder
2 cups water
1 cup uncooked long grain rice

Steps:

  • PREPARE THE SEASONING MIX: In an airtight container, combine the all the dry ingredients. Store in a cool dry place for up to 1 year. TO PREPARE RICE: In a saucepan, bring water and 1 tablespoon of herb mix to a boil. Stir in rice. Reduce heat; cover and simmer for 15 minutes or until rice is tender and liquid is absorbed.

6 teaspoons chicken bouillon granules
1/4 cup dried parsley flakes
2 teaspoons onion powder
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
1/4 teaspoon dried thyme
ADDITIONAL INGREDIENTS:
2 cups water
1 tablespoon butter
1 cup rice mix (above)

Steps:

  • Combine all ingredients in a storage container with a tight-fitting lid. Yield: about 3-1/2 cups., To prepare rice as a side dish: Combine 2 cups water and 1 tablespoon butter in a saucepan; bring to a boil. Stir in one rounded cup of rice mix. Reduce heat; cover and simmer for 15-20 minutes.

1 cup slivered almonds, toasted
2 tablespoons dried parsley flakes
4-1/2 teaspoons dill weed
1 tablespoon dried minced onion
1 teaspoon salt
3/4 teaspoon celery seed
3/4 teaspoon garlic powder
1/2 teaspoon pepper
ADDITIONAL INGREDIENTS (for each batch):
2 cups chicken broth
1 cup long grain rice
1 tablespoon butter
1/2 teaspoon grated lemon zest

Steps:

  • In a large bowl, combine the first eight ingredients. Store in an airtight container in a cool, dry place for up to 3 months. Yield: 7 batches (1-1/3 cups total)., To prepare rice: Shake seasoning mix before measuring. In a large saucepan, bring broth and 3 tablespoons mix to a boil. Add the rice, butter and lemon zest. Reduce heat; cover and simmer for 15-20 minutes or until broth is absorbed.
