RED, WHITE, AND BLUE CHEESECAKE CHEESE BALL

Red, White, and Blue Cheesecake Cheese Ball image

Provided by Darlene Kratz

Time 6h

Number Of Ingredients 7

2 8-oz blocks of cream cheese, softened
1/2 cup butter (softened)
1 tsp vanilla
1 1/2 cups powdered sugar
1 tbsp brown sugar
red and blue gel food coloring
red (white, and blue sprinkles)

Steps:

  • With a mixer, beat together the cream cheese and butter until smooth. Add vanilla and brown sugar. Slowly add in powdered sugar until mixture is combined.
  • Evenly divide the mixture into 3 separate bowls. Set one bowl aside (for the white) and then add the red color to one, and the blue color to the other. Start out with just a couple drops of the food coloring and add more until you get the desired color.
  • Cover a plate with wax paper. Take the red mixture and form into a small cheese ball on the plate. Freeze for a couple hours to harden. :Place the remaining 2 bowls into the refrigerator to use later.
  • Remove the cheese ball from the freezer and evenly cover with the blue mixture (just like how you would ice a cake). Place back into the freezer for another couple of hours. Remove, and cover with the remaining white mixture. Return to the freezer to harden. Finally, cover with sprinkles and place into the freezer until about 20 minutes before you're ready to serve.
  • Serve with graham crackers, fruit, or cookies.

RED, WHITE, AND BLUE CHEESE BALLS

Red, White, and Blue Cheese Balls image

These might not look like it, but you never want to judge a ball by its cover, because inside we are pairing fire-roasted red pepper, fresh white sweet corn, and blue cheese. Not only is the inside amazing, but these are also getting rolled in all sorts of extra deliciousness which really elevates these.

Provided by Chef John

Time 2h30m

Yield 60

Number Of Ingredients 11

2 (8 ounce) packages cream cheese
3 tablespoons butter, softened
¼ teaspoon kosher salt
¼ teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
1 pinch cayenne pepper
1 cup diced roasted red peppers
2 cups fresh white corn kernels
4 ounces blue cheese, crumbled
½ cup chopped toasted almonds
½ cup sliced fresh chives
1 cup minced crisp-cooked bacon

Steps:

  • Combine cream cheese, butter, salt, pepper, cayenne, roasted red peppers, corn, and blue cheese in a mixing bowl. Stir together until evenly and thoroughly combined. Cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate until completely chilled, about 1 hour.
  • Use a sorbet scoop or spoon to form tablespoon-sized balls of cheese mixture; place on a lined sheet pan. Cover and refrigerate until firm, about 1 hour. A perfect shape doesn't matter at this point since these will be rolled in the coatings to complete the process.
  • Transfer chilled cheese balls into the coatings of your choice, such as almonds, chives, and bacon, and roll around to cover. Once coated, roll each briefly in your hands to achieve the final ball shape. Transfer to a plate or pan and keep chilled in the refrigerator until ready to serve.

  • Preheat the oven to 425 degrees F. Lightly grease a large baking sheet and set aside. Bring a pot of salted water to boil. Place the potatoes into the pot and cook for 12 to 15 minutes, until the potatoes are easily pierced with a fork. Drain the potatoes, rinse with cold water, and let them cool for a few minutes.
  • Place a clean dish towel on the counter. Put a potato on one side of the towel, cover it with the other side, and smash the potato with your palm. Carefully remove the potato from the towel and place it on the prepared baking sheet. Repeat with the other potatoes. Try not to crush them into several pieces, but instead make one clean smash in the center of each potato while still keeping it mostly intact. Refer to the video below if needed.
  • Brush the potatoes with the olive oil, and season with salt, pepper, and garlic powder to taste. Bake for 25 to 30 minutes until golden brown and crispy. Remove from oven, sprinkle blue cheese in the center of each potato, and return to the oven to bake for 3 to 5 more minutes until the cheese is melted.

  • Brie and Cranberry Cheese Ball. Hello, is it Brie you're looking for? This festive cheese ball with dried cranberries, Brie, and cream cheese is perfect for bringing to holiday parties and office potlucks to spread on crackers or baguette slices.
  • Celebration Cheese Ball With Pecans. Can we celebrate with a cheese ball? Yes, pecan. Cheddar and cream cheese get a lift from onion and garlic and a crunch from pecans in this game-day and holiday favorite that's rolled in chopped nuts.
  • Bacon and Fig Cheese Ball. Here's a recipe that combines two classic flavors into one cheesy (in a good way.) appetizer. Fig jam, crispy crumbled bacon, scallions, cheddar, and cream cheese combine to form a spread that's great for all of your festive gatherings, from holiday brunches to bridal showers.
  • Pineapple Cheese Ball. Say aloha to a cheese ball packed with tropical flavor. Crushed pineapples add sweetness, while chopped green bell pepper and green onion lend texture and freshness.
  • Bacon and Smoked Gouda Cheese Ball. Think you can keep your party guests from demolishing this nut-free party cheese ball? Gouda luck. Yes, you guessed it—it's made with smoked Gouda, plus cream cheese, and a few other easy-to-find ingredients.
  • Greek Cheese Ball. Enjoy a Greek getaway without even leaving the couch. Rich Kalamata olives, salty feta, fresh green peppers, and creamy Greek yogurt are just a few of the treasures you'll find inside.
  • Blue Cheese Ball. You won't feel blue once you get a taste of this classic party spread. Simply form a cheese ball out of blended blue cheese crumbles, cream cheese, and black olives, then cover with walnuts and snipped fresh chives.
  • Jalapeno Peach Cheese Ball of Darkness. Don't be afraid of the cheese ball. This chillingly good Halloween starter is coated in black sesame seeds for a dark and creepy look, but sweetness lurks inside in the form of fruit preserves added to the cream cheese filling.
  • Vegan Party Cheese Ball. Move on over, dairy—there's a new "cheese" ball in town. This vegan appetizer gets its creamy texture from a blended mixture of soaked cashews, nutritional yeast, and vegan cream cheese, with lemon and a few spices added for flavor.
  • Festive Party Cheese Ball with Pecans. This retro appetizer is made from a simple combination of cheeses that are shaped into a festive ball, then rolled in finely chopped pecans.

  • Crush your Oreos in a food processer fitted with a blade attachment until they are a fine texture; about 10 (2-second) pulses.
  • In a large mixing bowl combine cookie crumbs and cream cheese until well combined. However, if you have a large enough food processor, I highly recommend adding the cream cheese and pulsing with the crushed cookies until just combined and a large clump has formed, a few more (2-second) pulses. It will be thick, slightly sticky, and shiny.
  • Form the mixture into tablespoon-sized balls (about 36) (roll them in your hands to make them smooth) and place in a single layer on the baking sheet. Refrigerate until very cold and firm, at least 1 hour or place them in the freezer for twenty minutes.
