1 grapefruit slice
Coarse sea salt, optional
1-1/2 ounces blanco tequila
1 ounce Triple Sec
1 ounce ruby red grapefruit juice
1 teaspoon grenadine syrup

Steps:

  • Moisten rim of 1 cocktail glass with grapefruit slice. If desired, sprinkle salt on a plate; dip rim in salt. Fill glass with ice., In an empty cocktail shaker, combine tequila, Triple Sec and grapefruit juice. Fill with ice; cover and shake until frost forms on the outside of the shaker, 15-20 seconds. Strain into prepared glass and top with grenadine (it will sink to the bottom of the glass). Garnish with grapefruit slice.

This margarita recipe was given to me by a friend who tells me they are delicious! I have not tried them yet, but plan to soon.

1 slice ruby red grapefruit (wedge )
kosher salt
6 ounces tequila
1/3 cup ruby red grapefruit vodka
1/4 cup simple syrup
1 cup ruby red grapefruit juice (fresh squeezed or from a carton)
1/4 cup freshly squeezed lime juice
4 cups ice cubes

Steps:

  • Use the wedge of grapefruit to rub the rims of 6 margarita glases with grapefruit juice.
  • Dip the rims in the kosher salt to coat.
  • Set glasses aside.
  • Place the tequila, vodka, simple syrup, grapefruit juice, lime juice and ice in a bar blender and puree until smooth.
  • Divide the margarita between 6 glasses and garnish with grapefruit quarters.

1 lime wedge
Coarse salt for coating the rim of the glass
1 jigger (1 1/2 ounces) tequila
3 tablespoons fresh pink grapefruit juice (preferably ruby red)
1 pony (1 ounce) orange-flavored liqueur
1/2 teaspoon superfine sugar if desired
Garnish: 1 quarter of a slice of ruby red grapefruit

Steps:

  • Rub the rim of a cocktail glass with the lime wedge, dip it in the salt, coating it lightly, and chill the glass.
  • In a blender, blend tequila, grapefruit juice, liqueur, sugar and 1 cup ice cubes for 30 seconds. Pour the drink into the glass, and garnish it with the grapefruit slice.

Margarita salt or kosher salt, for rimming glass
Ground chipotle powder, for rimming glass
1 small lime wedge
2 ounces tequila, preferably anejo
1 ounce grapefruit juice
3/4 ounce orange liqueur, such as Cointreau
Grapefruit twist, for garnish
Lime twist, for garnish

Steps:

  • Mix some salt and chipotle powder together on a plate. Cut a slit in the lime wedge and run it around the rim of a rocks glass and dip the rim in the salt mixture. Fill the glass with ice.
  • Fill a cocktail shaker with ice and add the tequila, grapefruit juice and orange liqueur. Vigorously shake until very cold and strain the drink into the rimmed rocks glass. The margarita can also be served up in a chilled coupe glass. Garnish with grapefruit and lime twists.

1 cup ruby red grapefruit juice
1/2 cup freshly squeezed lime juice (4 limes)
1 cup orange liqueur, such a Triple Sec
2 cups ice
1 cup white tequila

Steps:

  • If you like a salt rim on the glasses, rub the lime around the edge of the glass and then dip the rim of each glass lightly in a plate of kosher salt. Set aside to dry.
  • Combine the grapefruit juice, lime juice, orange liqueur, and ice in a blender and puree until smooth. Pour into a large pitcher and stir in the tequila. If youre not serving the margaritas in salted glasses, stir 1/4 teaspoon of salt into the pitcher of margaritas. Believe me, it will make a difference!
  • Serve ice cold.
