Another old family recipe. This recipe has coconut,dates,oatmeal & chocolate chips. They are one of our favorites. You can substitute raisins for the dates but I really prefer dates.

Number Of Ingredients 13

2 c flour
1/2 tsp salt
2 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp baking powder
1 1/4 c packed brown sugar
1 c crisco
3/4 c granulated sugar
2 large eggs
1 tsp vanilla
3/4 c coconut
2 c oatmeal
1 6 oz pkg. chocolate chips
1 c dates (cut-up) you can substitute raisins

Steps:

  • 1. Mix flour,salt,baking soda,baking powder.
  • 2. Blend shortening,sugars,eggs & vanilla.Mix with above dry ingredients. Add oatmeal,coconut,chocolate chips,dates.Mix.
  • 3. Bake in a preheated 375 degree oven. Bake 8-10 minutes. Watch carefully as sometimes 375 is to hot.
