We went very classic with this garlic bread recipe-lots of butter and lots of garlic loaded onto warm, soft and pillowy French bread. You could make a light meal by rounding it out with a crisp green salad. Or serve it our favorite way-alongside your favorite red-sauce pasta.

1 1/2 sticks (12 tablespoons) unsalted butter
4 cloves garlic, finely chopped
1 large soft Italian or French loaf
1/4 cup grated Parmesan
Kosher salt
2 tablespoons flat-leaf parsley leaves, finely chopped

Steps:

  • Arrange a rack in the center of oven and preheat to 450 degrees F.
  • Melt the butter in a small skillet over medium heat. Add the garlic and cook, stirring occasionally, until the butter is golden and the garlic is very fragrant, about 3 minutes.
  • Slice the bread in half lengthwise. Liberally brush the crust with the garlic butter. Turn the bread cut-side up. Slice each loaf crosswise at 2-inch intervals without cutting all the way through, making "pull-apart" garlic bread. Liberally brush the cut sides of the bread with more garlic butter, spreading any remaining garlic evenly over top. You should use all the garlic butter. Carefully transfer the bread to a rimmed baking sheet.
  • Sprinkle the loaves with the Parmesan and a pinch of salt and bake until the edges of the bread are a deep golden brown, 10 to 15 minutes. Top with the parsley. Serve warm.

  • In a bowl or food processor, blend butter, oil and Parmesan cheese. Add garlic, parsley and lemon-pepper; mix or process until smooth. , Slice the bread on the diagonal but not all the way through, leaving slices attached at the bottom. Spread butter mixture on one side of each slice and over the top. Wrap in foil and bake at 400° for 15-20 minutes.

3 cups bread flour ((you can substitute regular white flour in a pinch))
1 teaspoon quick rise instant yeast
1 teaspoon garlic salt
1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
1 and 1/2 cups water
1 tablespoon minced garlic ((short cut- use jarred minced garlic))
1/8 cup cornmeal (to prevent sticking (you can substitute flour if you don't have cornmeal))

Steps:

  • In a large bowl, combine the flour, yeast, garlic salt, and Parmesan cheese.
  • Measure the water, then add the minced garlic into the water.
  • Add the water into the flour mixture and combine until all the flour has been incorporated. (Note: the dough will be very sticky)
  • Cover the bowl with plastic wrap, and allow to sit for 1 and 1/2 hours.
  • On a large piece of parchment paper, sprinkle the cornmeal (or flour), the dump the dough onto the paper. Form the dough into a round , sprinkle with some additional cornmeal, then cover with plastic wrap. Allow to sit for 1/2 hour.
  • Preheat the slow cooker for about 5 minutes on high, then remove the plastic wrap, pick up the parchment paper with the dough on it, and place it in the slow cooker. Tuck or trim the edges of the parchment paper if necessary to fit under the lid.
  • Place a layer of paper towels over the slow cooker, then place the lid on top of the towels.
  • Cook on high for 2 hours, then remove from the slow cooker.
  • If more of a brown crust is desired, bake at 400 degrees in the oven for 15-20 minutes (optional).
  • Cool on a rack before serving.

11/2 Tbsp yeast
1 Tbsp honey
1 1/2 c water at 100-110 degrees
1 1/2 tsp salt
4 c flour
2 tsp minced garlic
1/2 c freshly grated parmesan cheese
2 Tbsp olive oil

Steps:

  • 1. In the bowl of a mixer mix your yeast, honey, and water. Cover and let sit for about 15 minutes, until bubbly.
  • 2. Add your flour, and salt, mix using a dough hook (or knead by hand) for about 5 minutes or until nice and smooth. Add in the garlic and Parmesan cheese until incorporated.
  • 3. On a floured counter divide the dough in half and shape into 2 loaves. If you want lines sliced into the top slice them now. Cover with a dishtowel and let rise for 20 minutes.
  • 4. Brush the tops of the loaves with olive oil , place on a baking sheet, and bake for 15-20 minutes or until golden brown. Cool before cutting.

1 tablespoon granulated sugar
1 tablespoon baking powder
1 teaspoon salt
3/4 cup fresh grated Parmesan Cheese
1 cup buttermilk
1 large egg
1/4 cup olive oil or vegetable oil
3 cloves garlic (minced (or 3 teaspoons))
1 teaspoon dried rosemary
1 teaspoon dried oregano

Steps:

  • Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F. Grease or spray with nonstick cooking spray a standard 9x5 loaf pan.
  • Whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder and salt in a medium mixing bowl. Gently mix in the grated Parmesan cheese.
  • In a separate bowl, whisk together the oil, buttermilk and egg.
  • Pour the liquid ingredients over the dry ingredients. Gently stir and fold the ingredients until all the flour has been incorporated and a wet batter is formed. Gently fold in the herbs and garlic. Be careful not to over-mix.
  • Pour the batter into the prepared pan, spreading to the edges.
  • Bake in the preheated 350 degree oven for 45-50 minutes. When finished, the loaf should be domed and golden, and a toothpick inserted into the center should come out clean.
  • Cool in the pan for 15 minutes before removing, slicing and serving.
  • Wrap cooled loaves tightly in plastic wrap and store at room temperature for up to a week. For freezer storage, wrap in plastic and aluminum foil and frozen for up to three months.

¼ teaspoon dried rosemary
⅛ teaspoon dried basil

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 300 degrees F (150 degrees C).
