Pork and beans casserole is sweet beans & salty pork covered in melty cheese topped with a perfectly browned biscuit all baked in one dish.

Number Of Ingredients 7

Ingredients

1 can vegetarian baked beans (28 ounces)
8 hot dogs (sliced into small bite sized pieces)
1 can diced tomatoes (14.5 ounces, drained)
1 cup diced sweet yellow onion
1 cup shredded Fiesta blend cheese (sometimes called Mexican blend cheese)
1 package refrigerated jumbo biscuit dough (16 ounces/8 biscuits)
Optional whisked egg for egg wash (heavy cream or butter will also work)

Steps:

In the bottom of a 9"x13 casserole dish, mix together beans, hot dogs, tomato, and onion.
Top with shredded cheese.
Remove biscuit dough from tube and using your fingers, or a rolling pin, flatten each biscuit and shape so that it fits in the pan, covering the top of the casserole. It is important to make the biscuits thinner so they will cook through completely.
Optional: baste the top of each biscuit with whisked egg.
Bake on center oven rack uncovered at 350 degrees for about 30 minutes, or until biscuits are golden brown on top and cooked all the way through.

Every once in a while I crave pork and beans and when I do I love to make this recipe. It has a slightly sweet filling and is topped with flaky biscuits and cheese for a nice flavor contrast making it almost like a pie.

Ingredients

1 1/2 lbs ground beef
2 (15 ounce) cans pork and beans
1 tablespoon brown sugar
1 tablespoon ketchup
1 (12 ounce) package Hungry Jack big flaky refrigerated biscuits
1 cup American cheese, grated

Steps:

Brown ground beef; drain fat.
Heat pork and beans in a medium saucepan. Add brown sugar and ketchup. (Start off with 1/2 tablespoon brown sugar and 1/2 tablespoon ketchup, gradually adding more until it suits your taste. I like mine a little on the sweet side.)
Preheat oven to 375 degrees (the oven tempurature may vary depending on the brand of biscuits you use).
Combine ground beef and pork and beans in a 2 1/2 quart casserole.
Place biscuits on a baking sheet, baking them 4 minutes (just long enough so that the bottoms of the biscuits start to cook).
Place the slightly baked biscuits on top of the pork and bean mixture. Sprinkle with cheese. Bake covered at 350 degrees for 20-30 minutes.

1 # hot dogs (diced)
15 oz pork and beans
1 T ketchup
2 T mustard
2 T brown sugar (dark corn syrup)
1 diced onion
1 strip bacon

Steps:

Mix all ingredients together except bacon slices. Put into casserole. Place bacon slices on top of beans before baking. Bake at 350° covered for 20 minutes, then uncovered for 8 minutes

6 hot dogs sliced in rounds
3/4 c chopped onions
1 1/2 tsp butter
1 1/2 tsp dry mustard
1 tsp all spice
1/4 tsp black pepper
16 oz can of b & m baked beans
1/3 c ketchup
2 Tbsp brown sugar
6 oz cheddar cheese, shredded

Steps:

1. Brown onion in butter, add hotdogs and brown. Add spices and mix well. Pour the beans in a baking dish (2 QUART) and add the ketchup and brown sugar and mix well. Add the hotdog mix to beans and stir. Add cheese on top and bake for 30 mins. Serve with french fries or potato wedges.
