PORK HAMONADO RECIPE

Number Of Ingredients 10

1 kilo of Pork belly (cut into serving size)
3 pcs Star anise
5 cloves Garlic
1 pc White onion
¼ cup Brown sugar
½ cup Pineapple juice
1½ cup Water
1 tbsp Salt
1 tbsp Peppercorn
¼ cup Soy sauce

Steps:

  • Put all the ingredients into a cooking pan and let it boil.
  • When boiling turn the heat into medium and cook for 1 hour or until the pork is soft.
  • When the pork is soft, turn the heat into high flame for 10 minutes to reduce and thicken the sauce.
  • Serve while hot . Enjoy

This is a Filipino dish, found on the table a lot around the holidays. Preparation time is marinating time.

2 lbs pork butt or 2 lbs pork loin
2 cups pineapple juice
2 cups pineapple chunks
3 tablespoons soy sauce
5 tablespoons brown sugar
3 tablespoons cooking oil

Steps:

  • Mix the pineapple juice, sugar, and soy sauce in a large bowl.
  • Cut the pork into fairly large cubes, about 2", and marinate pork with the pineapple juice, sugar, and soy sauce mixture for about 1 to 3 hours.
  • Remove the pork from the marinade and set the remaining mixture aside.
  • Heat the oil in a pan and fry the marinated pork until the meat turns light brown (approximately 3 to 5 minutes).
  • Pour in the remaining marinade mixture together with the pineapple chunks and simmer for 10 to 15 minutes. Add salt and pepper to taste.
  • We usually serve this with jasmine rice.
