PORK CHOPS WITH CRANBERRY HORSERADISH SAUCE

Pork Chops With Cranberry Horseradish Sauce image

I don't usually like to use recipes that you have to buy specific brand ingredients, but I had the Cranberry Horseradish Sauce on hand, and I created this recipe with it. If you don't want to buy the Stonewall Kitchen, I'm sure you can combine whole cranberry sauce and 2-3T of horseradish (to taste). Because RZ does not find this ingredient, it is not included in the calories - it is about an additonal 50 calories a serving (although more for the whole dish, you are probably only eating about 1 T of the sauce).

Time 25m

Yield 8 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 11

2 lbs boneless sirloin pork chops
1 (13 ounce) jar cranberry horseradish (cranberry horseradish sauce from Stonewall Kitchen ( stonewallkitchen.com)
1/3 cup chili sauce
1/2 cup brown sugar
1 tablespoon Dijon mustard (or deli-style)
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1/2 teaspoon onion powder
1/3 cup flour
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon black pepper
1 tablespoon vegetable oil

Steps:

  • Combine the cranberry horseradish sauce, chili sauce, sugar mustard, garlic powder and onion powder. Set aside.
  • Put the flour, salt, and pepper in a bag.
  • Heat a large covered skillet, add the oil.
  • Shake pork cutlets in the bag with flour, one at a time, and add to the skillet.
  • Brown pork on both sides, 2-3 minutes. (I barely had enough room for the 2lbs of pork cutlets - there were about 8 of them - in my 14" skillet, so you may need to do this in batches.).
  • Add the sauce from step one and coat the pork with it. Cover and cook on med-low for 10 minutes.
  • I served with white rice and carrots.

EASY PORK CHOPS WITH CRANBERRY PAN SAUCE

Easy Pork Chops With Cranberry Pan Sauce image

This recipe might not look like much, but wait until you try it! If you can,try to use the fresh thyme in place of dryed, it really makes a difference in taste! If you want you can use chardonnay in place of the white wine, I use chardonnay and it worked out quite well. This recipe can be doubled if desired. Serve this with potato pancakes for a great meal!

Sweet orange marmalade enhances the flavor of the tart cranberries in this wonderful dish. For a more intense flavor, use 1/4 cup dried cranberries or cherries instead of fresh or frozen cranberries and do not chop.

CRANBERRY PORK CHOPS

My husband and two kids rave over these moist chops. Use the mild sweet-and-sour sauce to make a gravy that can be served over mashed potatoes or rice. Then add a salad and you have a very satisfying meal that didn't keep you in the kitchen for hours. -Robin Czachor, Appleton, Wisconsin

  • Prep the pork chops: Season the pork chops with salt and pepper on either side, then place them in a 3-4 quart slow cooker. It's fine to overlap them.
  • Make the sauce: Add all ingredients for the sauce to a large measuring jug and whisk together until combined. You'll need to mash down the cranberry sauce first, it will start breaking up easier in the liquids that way (don't worry if it isn't smooth, it will melt once hot).I like to lift each chop a little to let some sauce run underneath once everything is in the crock.
  • Cook the pork: Cover the slow cooker with the lid and cook on LOW for 4-5 hours, or until pork is tender.
  • Thicken gravy: Once the pork chops are tender, remove them from the crock pot and keep them warm. Transfer the juices to a saucepan. Combine the 1/4 cup juice and cornstarch in a small bowl, then whisk into juices. Bring to a boil, cook and stir until thickened, about 2-3 minutes. Serve over the pork chops.
