You'll love this quick, easy and economical homemade sloppy joe recipe. Brown sugar adds a touch of sweetness, both for traditional sandwiches on buns or as a down-home topping for rice, biscuits or baked potatoes. -Laurie Hauser, Rochester, New York

Number Of Ingredients 10

1 pound ground beef
1 cup ketchup
1/4 cup water
2 tablespoons brown sugar
2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce
2 teaspoons prepared mustard
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
1/2 teaspoon onion powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
4 hamburger buns, split

Steps:

  • In a large skillet, cook beef over medium heat until no longer pink; drain. Stir in the ketchup, water, brown sugar, Worcestershire sauce, mustard, garlic powder, onion powder and salt. Bring to a boil. Reduce heat; cover and simmer for 15-20 minutes. Serve on buns.

This is a recipe both my mom and grandma gave me. My mom used to it eat all the time when she was little because it cheap and easy. Sounds weird, but its delicious!

Number Of Ingredients 8

1 lb ground beef
1 (11 ounce) can bean with bacon soup (condensed)
salt
pepper
garlic powder (to taste)
1/4 cup onion (chopped)
1/4 cup ketchup
2 tablespoons mustard

Steps:

  • 1. Brown the ground beef and drain.
  • 2. Add the soup, onion, seasonings, ketchup and mustard.
  • 3. Stir, bring to a low boil, stir some more and ENJOY! The ketchup and mustard can be altered according to taste. Serve it on bread or buns just like sloppy joes!
