This makes a great party snack.

Number Of Ingredients 5

¼ cup packed brown sugar
2 tablespoons rice vinegar
2 tablespoons maple syrup
ground black pepper to taste
1 pound thick-cut bacon

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
  • Mix brown sugar, rice vinegar, maple syrup, and black pepper in a small bowl.
  • Place bacon slices on cooling rack set over a baking sheet.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for 10 minutes, turn slices, and bake another 5 minutes.
  • Remove bacon and brush both sides with brown sugar mixture. Return bacon to the oven and bake another 5 minutes. Repeat basting every 5 minutes until bacon is browned and crisp, about 35 minutes.

  • Heat oven or grill to 400 degrees. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Place strips of bacon on sheet pan.
  • In a small bowl, mix together brown sugar and pepper. Sprinkle 1/2 of mixture on bacon strips. Place baking sheet in oven or on grill and cook for 15 minutes. Turn bacon strips and sprinkle on remaining sugar mixture. Continue to cook for 10 minutes, watching carefully so that bacon does not burn.
  • Remove pan from oven or grill. Set aside and allow bacon to cool. Once bacon has become somewhat hard, remove from baking sheet and place on paper towels to drain any extra drippings. Seve immediately. Can be stored in airtight container in refrigerator.
