This peas recipe takes just 5 minutes! Cooking frozen peas with garlic and lemon makes them taste incredible. It's an easy side dish that everyone loves!

2 cups frozen peas (about 10 ounces)
2 garlic cloves
1 tablespoon salted butter
1 tablespoon olive oil
1/4 teaspoon kosher salt
Fresh ground pepper
Zest of 1/2 lemon, optional

Steps:

  • Rinse the peas under warm water and shake off excess liquid.
  • Smash and peel the garlic cloves.
  • Add the butter and olive oil to a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the smashed garlic and frozen peas and cook for 2 minutes until warmed through but still bright green.
  • Season with the kosher salt, fresh ground pepper and lemon zest. Discard the garlic cloves and serve immediately.

What can I do with lots of peas? These 15 delicious pea recipes are absolutely perfect to turn fresh or frozen peas into vibrant, healthy and convenient meals for the entire family like this quick pasta with peas.

1 Tbsp olive oil, plus more for drizzling
1 small onion, diced
1 lb (450 grams) peas, fresh or frozen
2 cups vegetable broth or hot water
½ lb (220 grams) short shaped pasta
salt & pepper to taste
½ cup freshly grated parmesan, plus more to serve

Steps:

  • Warm the olive oil in a large pot over medium heat. Add the diced onion and cook until the onion has softened and is turning translucent, about 5 minutes.
  • Add the peas and cook stirring frequently about 1 minute.
  • Then add vegetable broth (or water), raise the heat, bring to a boil and stir in pasta and salt (I use 1 tsp of salt and then I adjust the seasoning at the end). You might need to add or to reduce the amount of water according to the type of pasta.
  • Cover with a lid, reduce the heat and cook your pasta in the starchy water. During the cooking time, you need to stir often until the water is absorbed, otherwise, it will stick to the bottom. The water should barely cover the pasta, but it's fine, add extra water gradually only if needed.
  • Cook until ready but firm to the bite. Turn off the heat and stir in freshly grated parmesan cheese until melted. Taste and adjust the seasoning.
  • Serve immediately with a drizzle of olive oil, black pepper, and extra parmesan cheese if you like. Enjoy!

12 ounces uncooked Japanese soba noodles or whole wheat spaghetti
1/4 cup water
1 cup fresh snow peas or sugar snap peas, trimmed
3 cups ice water
3/4 cup frozen green peas, thawed
1 small cucumber, chopped
3 green onions, finely chopped
SAUCE:
1/4 cup creamy peanut butter
3 tablespoons orange juice
3 tablespoons white or rice vinegar
3 tablespoons soy sauce
4 teaspoons sesame oil or tahini
4 teaspoons canola oil
1 tablespoon garlic powder
2 to 3 teaspoons hot pepper sauce
2-1/4 teaspoons sugar
TOPPINGS:
1/2 cup chopped fresh cilantro
Sesame seeds, toasted

Steps:

  • Cook noodles according to package directions. Meanwhile, in a small saucepan, bring 1/4 cup water to a boil over medium-high heat. Add snow peas; cook, uncovered, just until crisp-tender, 1-2 minutes. Drain; immediately drop snow peas into ice water. Remove and pat dry., Drain noodles; rinse with cold water and drain again. Combine noodles with snow peas, green peas, cucumber and green onions., In another bowl, whisk together sauce ingredients until blended; pour over noodles and vegetables. Toss to coat. To serve, sprinkle with cilantro and sesame seeds.
