PEACH CRISP



Peach Crisp image

This easy peach crisp is made with fresh peaches and topped with a sweet and crumbly topping. Be sure and serve it with a nice big scoop of vanilla ice cream.

4-5 lbs. peaches (peeled and sliced)
1 cup all purpose flour
1 cup brown sugar (divided)
1 cup cold butter (cut into small pieces)
2 tsp cinnamon
1/2 tsp salt
2 cups old fashioned oats

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
  • Put peeled, sliced peaches into a bowl and cover with 1/4 cup brown sugar. Stir to coat and allow to sit for about 30 minutes.
  • In a mixer bowl, combine flour, oats, remaining brown sugar, cinnamon, salt, and cold butter. Mix with paddle attachment until all dry ingredients are incorporated and mixture is crumbly.
  • Place peaches into a 10" cast iron pan or 9 x 13" baking dish. Cover with crumbled topping.
  • Bake for 50-60 minutes or until topping is golden brown and juices are bubbling.

1 cup all-purpose flour
1/2 cup packed brown sugar
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup cold butter, cubed
FILLING:
2 cans (15-1/4 ounces each) sliced peaches
1 cup sugar
1/4 cup cornstarch
TOPPING:
1-1/2 cups old-fashioned oats
1/2 cup packed brown sugar
1/4 cup all-purpose flour
5 tablespoons cold butter, cubed

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350°. In a large bowl, combine flour, brown sugar and salt. Cut in butter until crumbly. Pat into a greased 9-in. square baking pan. Bake until lightly browned, about 15 minutes. , Meanwhile, drain the peaches and reserve juice in a small saucepan. Stir in the sugar and cornstarch until smooth. Bring to a boil; cook and stir until thickened, 1-2 minutes. Remove from the heat; stir in peaches. , Pour over crust. For topping, combine oats, brown sugar and flour. Cut in the butter until crumbly. Sprinkle over filling. Bake until golden brown and bubbly, 25-30 minutes.

Mom canned bushels of peaches every year. When we had fresh peaches she always made this dessert.

1 c flour
1/2 c sugar
1 pinch of salt
1 tsp baking powder
1 egg
6 peeled, sliced peaches
1/2 c melted butter
cinnamon

Steps:

  • 1. Butter an 8 inch square pan. Heat oven to 350 degrees. Mix first 5 ingredients until crumbly. Place sliced peaches in pan. Sprinkle crumbly mixture over peaches. Pour 1/2 cup melted butter over mixture. Sprinkle with cinnamon. Bake at 350 degrees for 40 minutes. Serve warm with ice cream.

½ cup cold butter
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
¼ teaspoon salt
1 cup rolled oats

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
  • Arrange peaches evenly in an 8x8-inch baking dish.
  • Mix flour, brown sugar, butter, cinnamon, and salt in a bowl using a pastry cutter until evenly crumbled. Fold oats into flour mixture; sprinkle and press topping into peaches.
  • Bake in the preheated oven until topping is lightly browned, about 30 minutes.

Repeat with the rest of the fruit. Slice the peaches into thick slices and place them in a 2-quart shallow baking dish.
  • Place the flour, brown sugar and salt in the bowl of a food processor (see Note) and process to combine. Add the butter and pulse until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Remove the blade and stir in the oatmeal by hand.
  • Spread the crisp topping evenly over the peaches, and bake for 40 to 45 minutes until the top is lightly browned and the juices from the peaches are bubbling up around the edges. Let cool on a wire rack until just warm, or to room temperature.
