Pea Pod Wrap-Ups image

So pretty, so easy. Cooked shrimp marinate in ginger dressing, then join crispy snow peas for a quick appetizer.

1 lb cooked deveined peeled large shrimp (about 35)
1 cup (8 oz) Asian ginger dressing
6 oz fresh snow pea pods (about 35)
Toothpicks or appetizer picks

Steps:

  • In medium bowl, place shrimp. Pour dressing evenly over shrimp; stir to coat. Cover; refrigerate 1 hour. Meanwhile, remove stem and strings from pea pods. To partially cook pea pods, place in boiling water about 1 minute or until pea pods turn bright green. Drain; rinse with cold water and dry with paper towels.
  • Drain dressing from shrimp. Wrap 1 pea pod around each shrimp; secure with toothpick. Cover; refrigerate until serving time.

1 cup sesame ginger salad dressing
6 ounces fresh snow pea pods (about 35)

Steps:

  • Place shrimp in medium bowl.
  • Pour dressing evenly over shrimp; stir to coat.
  • Cover; refrigerate 1 hour.
  • Meanwhile, remove stem and strings from pea pods.
  • To partially cook pea pods, place in boiling water about 1 minute or until pea pods turn bright green.
  • Drain; rinse with cold water and dry with paper towels.
  • Drain dressing from shrimp.
  • Wrap 1 pea pod around each shrimp; secure with toothpick.
  • Cover; refrigerate until serving time.

1/4 cup chopped onion
3 tablespoons butter, divided
Salt and pepper to taste

Steps:

  • Place the pea pods and water in a microwave-safe bowl; cover and cook on high for 3-5 minutes or until crisp-tender. Meanwhile, in a small skillet, cook onion in 2 tablespoons butter over medium heat until crisp-tender., Drain peas; add to onion mixture. Add salt, pepper and remaining butter; toss to coat. Cook and stir until heated through.

Another great recipe from "Madame Wong's Long-Life Chinese Cookbook". This is an excellent side dish with Asian style fish and rice. Really good!

1/4 lb pea pods (snow peas)
4 tablespoons oil
1/2 lb fresh mushrooms, sliced 1/8 in. thick
1/4 teaspoon salt
2 tablespoons chicken stock
1/2 teaspoon sugar

Steps:

  • Snip off ends of pea pods; wash, leave in colander.
  • Heat 2 Tablespoons of oil in wok; add pea pods and stir-fry for one minute then remove and set aside.
  • Heat 2 Tablespoons oil in wok, add mushrooms and stir-fry for 30 seconds; add pea pods, salt, stock and sugar; stir-fry 2 minutes and serve hot!

3 cups frozen chopped collard greens (from 16-oz bag)
2 teaspoons cider or white vinegar
1/2 teaspoon onion powder
1/2 teaspoon seasoned salt
1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
1 1/2 cups ready-to-eat baby-cut carrots, quartered lengthwise
1 1/2 cups frozen sugar snap peas
Red pepper sauce, if desired

Steps:

  • In 2-quart saucepan, heat broth to boiling. Stir in collard greens, vinegar, onion powder, seasoned salt and garlic powder. Return to boiling. Reduce heat to medium-low; cover and boil gently 10 minutes.
  • Stir in carrots. Cover; cook 8 minutes. Stir in pea pods; cover and cook 2 to 3 minutes longer or until carrots and pea pods are crisp-tender. Serve with red pepper sauce.

20 pods snow peas
1 (8 ounce) container herb and garlic flavored cream cheese, softened
1 bunch spinach - rinsed, stemmed, and dried

Steps:

  • Remove string from pods and trim off the blossom end. Make a small slit on flat side of pod. Soak pods in ice water for about 1 1/2 hours. Drain and dry pods.
  • Put cream cheese in a pastry bag and pipe enough cheese into pods until full. Arrange pods on a platter lined with spinach or lettuce. Garnish each pod with a bit of cream cheese studded with the appropriate number of peas, depending on how many the mother-to-be is expecting.

Travel to the Orient with this mouthwatering Asian stir-fry dish! A skillet or wok is the only pan you need!

1 pound beef boneless sirloin steak
1 tablespoon vegetable oil
1 garlic clove, finely chopped
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/8 teaspoon pepper
2/3 cup Progresso™ beef flavored broth (from 32-ounce carton)
1 tablespoon cornstarch
2 tablespoons water
1 tablespoon soy sauce
1 teaspoon finely chopped gingerroot or 1/4 teaspoon ground ginger
1 package (6 ounces) frozen snow (Chinese) pea pods, thawed and drained
Hot cooked rice, if desired

Steps:

  • Trim fat from beef. Cut beef with grain into 2-inch strips; cut strips across grain into 1/4-inch slices.
  • Heat 10-inch skillet or wok over high heat 1 to 2 minutes. Add oil; rotate skillet to coat with oil. Add beef and garlic; stir-fry about 3 minutes or until beef is brown. Sprinkle salt and pepper over beef; stir in broth. Heat to boiling.
  • Mix cornstarch, water and soy sauce; stir into beef mixture. Cook, stirring constantly, until mixture thickens and boils. Continue boiling 1 minute, stirring constantly (sauce will be thin).
  • Stir in gingerroot and pea pods. Cook uncovered about 2 minutes, stirring occasionally, until pea pods are crisp-tender. Serve over rice.
