Make Your Own Boursin Cheese - Paula Deen image

This recipe comes from Paula Deen. It tastes exactly like the boursin cheese sold at stores, for a fraction of the cost! I like to serve this spread with buttery crackers. You could also use it to make sandwiches, etc... The prep time does not include softening of cream cheese, butter or the refrigeration time.

Number Of Ingredients 9

1 lb cream cheese, softened (2 8 oz. bars)
8 ounces whipped butter, at room temp
1 teaspoon garlic salt
1/2 teaspoon dried oregano
1/4 teaspoon dried basil
1/4 teaspoon dried dill
1/4 teaspoon dried marjoram
1/4 teaspoon black pepper
1/4 teaspoon dried thyme

Steps:

  • Put the cream cheese and butter into the bowl of a food processor. (You could use a mixer or blender if you don't have a food processor.).
  • Add the seasonings and process until completely blended and smooth.
  • Line a medium-sized serving bowl with plastic wrap and fill it with the cheese mixture.
  • Cover and refrigerate for at least a few hours before serving.
  • You can keep refrigerated for up to 1 week.
  • Enjoy!

CHEESY GARLIC-HERB PULL-APART BREAD



Cheesy Garlic-Herb Pull-Apart Bread image

Makes 8 servings

Number Of Ingredients 8

1 (16-ounce) round sourdough bread loaf
½ cup butter, softened
2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley, divided
1 tablespoon chopped fresh basil
2 teaspoons white wine vinegar
2 cloves garlic, minced
½ cup shredded mozzarella cheese
½ cup shredded Parmesan cheese

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350°. Line a rimmed baking sheet with foil. Using a serrated knife, cut bread into a crisscross pattern, cutting to but not through bottom of bread. Place on prepared pan. In a small bowl stir together butter, 1 tablespoon parsley, and next 3 ingredients until combined. Sprinkle cheeses between all cuts in bread, and spread butter mixture between all cuts and on top of bread. Bake for 15 to 20 minutes or until cheese is melted and bread is crisp. Sprinkle with remaining 1 tablespoon parsley. Serve immediately.

BAKED RAVIOLI



Baked Ravioli image

Makes 8 to 10 servings

Number Of Ingredients 15

1 tablespoon canola oil
2 (9-ounce) bags fresh spinach
2 teaspoons dried Italian seasoning
1 teaspoon garlic salt
1 (25-ounce) package frozen cheese-filled ravioli
1 (24-ounce) jar tomato-basil pasta sauce
2 large yellow squash, thinly sliced
1 (8-ounce) package shredded mozzarella cheese
Garlic Bread (recipe follows)
½ cup butter, softened
½ cup shredded Parmesan cheese
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 teaspoon garlic salt
1 teaspoon dried oregano
1 (16-ounce) loaf French bread, halved lengthwise

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350°. Spray a 13x9-inch baking pan with nonstick cooking spray.
  • In a large skillet, heat oil over medium-high heat. Add spinach, Italian seasoning, and garlic salt; cook until spinach is wilted, about 2 minutes. Transfer mixture to a colander, and press to remove as much liquid as possible. Chop and set aside.
  • Place a single layer of ravioli into prepared pan. Pour half of pasta sauce on top. Layer half of spinach, half of squash, and half of cheese. Repeat layers, ending with cheese.
  • Bake for 45 minutes or until ravioli is tender and cheese is browned. Let stand 10 minutes before serving. Serve with Garlic Bread.
  • Preheat oven to 350°.
  • In a small bowl, stir together butter, cheese, garlic, garlic salt, and oregano. Spread over cut sides of bread.
  • Bake until browned, about 12 minutes.

3 ounces cream cheese, at room temperature
1 cup packed, coarsely grated extra-sharp Cheddar cheese
1 cup packed, coarsely grated Monterey Jack cheese
1/2 cup mayonnaise, or more to taste
1/8 teaspoon garlic powder
3 tablespoons minced pimentos (sweet pickled red or cherry peppers)
1 teaspoon grated onion
Salt and freshly ground black pepper.

Steps:

  • Using an electric mixer, beat cream cheese until smooth and fluffy. Add remaining ingredients and beat until well blended. Add more mayonnaise as needed to make mixture hold together. Add salt and pepper to taste (it should be quite peppery) and use as a sandwich spread or a filling for celery sticks. Can be refrigerated up to 3 days.

A great casserole for anyone who is a fan of grits and cheese.

Number Of Ingredients 10

4 beaten eggs
1/2 cup milk
16 oz cubed cheddar cheese
1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
2 cups regular grits
1/4 teaspoon pepper
1 teaspoon salt
6 cups chicken broth
1 stick butter
8 oz grated sharp white cheddar cheese

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350 °F. Grease a 4 quart casserole dish.
  • Bring the broth, garlic powder, salt and pepper to a boil in a 2 quart saucepan. Stir in the grits and whisk until completely combined. Reduce the heat to low and simmer until the grits are thick, about 8 minutes.
  • Add the cubed cheddar cheese and milk and stir. Gradually stir in the eggs and butter, stirring until all are combined. Pour the mixture into the prepared casserole dish. Sprinkle with the white cheddar cheese and bake for 35-40 minutes or until set.
