2 cups granulated white sugar
1 teaspoon salt
1 cup (2 sticks) butter, (at room temperature)
4 large eggs
2 teaspoons pure orange extract (or orange oil)
1 teaspoon grated orange zest
1 cup powdered sugar ((measure, then sift))
2 tablespoons freshly squeezed orange juice
1 teaspoons finely grated orange zest

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350°F. Spray a 13x9-inch pan with nonstick spray.

2 cups sugar
1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon salt
1 cup butter, softened
4 large eggs
2 teaspoons orange extract
2 teaspoons orange zest, divided
1 cup confectioners sugar
tablespoon orange juice

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350°F. Spray a 13x9-inch pan with cooking spray. In a mixing bowl, stir together sugar, flour and salt. Add butter, eggs, extract, and a teaspoon zest; beat with a mixer at medium speed until well blended. Pour batter into prepared pan. Bake for about 30 minutes or until light golden brown. Remove from oven and pierce cake in various spots with a fork. In a smaller bowl, combine confectioners' sugar, orange juice and remaining teaspoon zest until smooth. Pour over warm cake. Allow to cool completely before cutting into squares.

1 1/2 cups flour
2 cups granulated sugar
1 teaspoon salt
1 cup butter, room temperature
4 eggs
2 teaspoons pure orange extract
1 teaspoon grated orange zest
1 (8 ounce) package cream cheese, room temperature
4 tablespoons softened butter
1 (1 lb) box confectioners' sugar
2 tablespoons orange zest
2 tablespoons orange juice

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Grease a 9 x 13-inch pan.
  • To make the brownies, stir together flour, granulated sugar, and salt in a bowl. Add butter, eggs, orange extract and orange zest. Using a hand-held electric mixer, beat until well blended.
  • Pour batter into prepared pan and bake in preheated oven for 30 minutes, or until light golden brown and set.
  • Remove from oven, allow to cool and pierce entire cake with a fork. Spread the Orange Cream Cheese Frosting over completely cooled brownies. Cut into squares.
  • To make the frosting, whip the butter and cream cheese together in a large mixing bowl, using a hand-held mixed. Gradually beat in the confectioners' sugar until it is all combined and smooth. Beat in the orange zest and juice. Spread over browwnies.

MAGGIE'S DECADENT BROWNIES

Number Of Ingredients 9

2 teaspoons 1 teaspoon each for brownie and frosting vanilla extract
2 cups sugar
4 large eggs
4 sticks 2 sticks for brownies, 2 sticks softened for frosting butter
8 squares (8 oz total) divided unsweetened chocolate
1 cup sifted all purpose flour
1/2 cup pasteurized egg substitute
1 (1 lb) box sifted confectioner's sugar
4 cups mini marshmallows

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350 °F. Grease a 13 by 9 inch baking pan.
  • Melt 4 oz (4 squares) unsweetened chocolate and 2 sticks butter in a 2-quart bowl in the microwave on high for 3 minutes. Stir until the chocolate is completely melted. Add the eggs, 2 cups sugar, and 1 teaspoon vanilla extract and mix well with a spatula. Add the flour and stir to combine. Spread the batter evenly in the prepared pan. Bake for 25 minutes.
  • While the brownies are baking, make the frosting. Melt 4 oz (4 squares) unsweetened chocolate and 2 sticks softened butter in a medium bowl in the microwave on high for 3 minutes. Stir until the chocolate is completely melted. Add 1/2 cup egg substitute, 1 teaspoon vanilla extract, and 1 (1 lb) box sifted confectioner's sugar and stir with a spoon until smooth. Stir in the marshmallows; they will soften but not melt completely. Spread the frosting over the warm brownies. The frosting will set up when the brownies are completely cooled. When cool, cut into 1 1/2-inch squares and store in the refrigerator in a plastic container with a snap-on lid.

  • Cream butter with sugar. Add eggs, mix well. Add orange extract/juice & zest. Scrape bowl. Add salt & flour, mix until just combined.
  • Spread into a greased 13x9x2" pan. Bake at 350*F for 30 minutes; edges & top should be lightly browned.
  • Make glaze: Combine cream cheese & butter. Cream until no lumps appear. Add orange zest, orange juice & powdered sugar until desired consistency & taste.
