1 large egg
1 tsp vanilla extract
2 1/2 c all purpose flour
1 1/2 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp salt

Add nuts to the second piece, and press onto the first piece.Or wrap each piece separately and pack into pan the next day. Add melted chocolate to the third piece, mixing in well; press chocolate piece evenly over second layer. Note: you can arrange colors in any order you wish.
  • 5. Cover and chill overnight.Next day Unwrap, cut loaf in half lengthwise. If you want a large cookie -"Paul Bunyan" style -do not cut dough in half. Be sure to place these cookies at least 4 to 6 inches apart on cookie sheet. Heat oven to 350^.
  • 6. Cut each half into 1/8-inch slices. Place 1 inch apart on an ungreased cookie sheet. Bake for 10 to 12 minutes or just until edges are firm;or starting to brown on the edges. Remove to racks to cool. --- Note: I know this may sound difficult- but once you get the hang of it ,it is quite simple- give it a try!

ANZAC BISCUITS

Anzac Biscuits image

This cookie was popularized by World War I care packages sent to soldiers of the Australia New Zealand Army Corps (ANZAC), since they could be made without eggs, and they kept well on the overseas voyage to Europe.

Yield Makes about 3 dozen

Number Of Ingredients 8

2 cups all-purpose flour
2 cups rolled oats
2 cups sugar
1 cup desiccated coconut
1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter
2 tablespoons Lyle's Golden Syrup
3/4 teaspoon baking soda
1/4 cup boiling water

Steps:

  • Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Line baking sheets with parchment paper, and set aside. In a large bowl, combine flour, oats, sugar, and coconut. Set aside.
  • In a small saucepan over medium heat, melt butter with syrup. Dissolve baking soda in boiling water, and add to butter mixture. Stir to combine. (Be careful; if the butter is hot, it will bubble up considerably.)
  • Add butter mixture to dry ingredients, and stir to combine. Using a 1 1/2-inch ice-cream scoop, drop onto prepared baking sheets, about 2 inches apart (be sure to pack the scoop tightly so the mixture doesn't crumble). Flatten cookies slightly with the heel of your hand.
  • Bake until golden brown and firm but not hard, about 15 minutes. Transfer to wire racks to cool.

PAUL BUNYAN COOKIES

Paul Bunyan Cookies image

I got this recipe from Martha Stewart Living a long time ago. These cookies have everything (except for peanut butter - I guess Paul Bunyan didn't like peanut butter) :-) I won a blue ribbon at the county fair for these, under the "cookie with the most ingredients" category.
