Steps:
- Mix butter or margarine, cocoa, sugar, milk, and salt together in saucepan. Boil for 1 minute.
- Stir in oatmeal, peanut butter and vanilla. Drop by tablespoonfuls onto waxed paper. Allow to cool and harden.

This was given by Zella Gray from East Tennessee and has been used as "prayful distraction" in times of crisis - drop a spoonful of dough, say a prayer! Don't cut the recipe in half - doesn't turn out right.

Steps:
- Preheat oven to 375 degrees.
- Mix shortening, sugars, eggs and vanilla.
- Add dry ingredients.
- Drop by the teaspoon on ungreased cookie sheets.
- Bake for 7 to 8 minutes.
- May be kept in refrigerator for a week or so (if they last that long). Can also be kept frozen before or after baking.
- Makes 15 to 20 dozen cookies depending on the size.

- If you don't flatten the cookies, they'll bake up in softly flattened mounds; they're lovely either way., Bake the cookies for 15 minutes, until they're starting to brown on the bottom.
- Remove them from the oven, and cool right on the pans., Store, well -covered, for up to 5 days.
