Easy homemade pizza sauce image

This easy, no-cook pizza sauce recipe is perfect for making in bulk and freezing for pizza emergencies (which are totally a thing).

2 cups tomato passata / tomato puree
1 tbsp tomato paste
1 tsp salt
½ tsp sugar
1 tsp oregano
2 tsp olive oil

Steps:

  • Combine all the ingredients in a large bowl and mix well.
  • Use on pizza bases of your choice or store for later use.

2 tablespoons olive oil
2 cloves garlic, chopped
1 (6 ounce) can tomato paste
2 teaspoons white sugar
¼ teaspoon dried oregano
¼ teaspoon dried basil
.66 cup water
2 tablespoons grated Parmesan cheese
2 tablespoons red wine
salt and pepper to taste

Steps:

  • In large skillet, saute garlic in oil until golden. Add tomato paste, sugar, oregano, basil, water, cheese and wine. Season with salt and pepper and simmer 10 minutes over medium-low heat.

8 ounces rotini pasta
1 pound lean ground beef
1 small onion, diced
1 (28 ounce) jar spaghetti sauce
4 ounces sliced pepperoni sausage
2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
  • Bring a large pot of lightly salted water to a boil. Add pasta and cook for 8 to 10 minutes or until al dente; drain.
  • In a medium skillet over medium-high heat, cook beef with onion until beef is brown. Drain. Combine beef mixture with spaghetti sauce, pepperoni and cooked pasta and pour into a 9x13 inch baking dish. Top with mozzarella.
  • Bake in preheated oven for 30 minutes, until cheese is melted and golden.

8 ounces uncooked angel hair pasta
4 teaspoons olive oil, divided
2 cups sliced fresh mushrooms
1/2 cup chopped green pepper
1/4 cup chopped onion
1 can (15 ounces) pizza sauce
1/4 cup sliced ripe olives
1/2 cup shredded part-skim mozzarella cheese
1/4 teaspoon Italian seasoning

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 400°. Cook pasta according to package directions; drain. , In a large cast-iron or other ovenproof skillet, heat 1 teaspoon oil over medium heat. Add mushrooms, green pepper and onion; saute until tender. Remove with a slotted spoon and keep warm. Increase heat to medium-high. In same skillet, heat remaining oil. Spread pasta evenly in skillet to form a crust. Cook until lightly browned, 5-7 minutes., Turn crust onto a large plate. Reduce heat to medium; slide crust back into skillet. Top with pizza sauce, sauteed vegetables and olives; sprinkle with cheese and Italian seasoning. Bake until cheese is melted, 10-12 minutes.

  • Heat butter and olive oil in a small saucepan over medium heat; cook and stir onion and garlic until tender and fragrant, about 1 minute. Add flour and whisk until flour is lightly browned and onion is translucent, 2 to 3 minutes.
  • Mix milk, Parmesan cheese, basil, oregano, salt, and black pepper into onion mixture. Cook, whisking continuously, until cheese is melted and sauce has thickened slightly, about 5 minutes. Remove from heat.

1 large onion, chopped
3-1/2 cups spaghetti sauce
1 package (16 ounces) spiral or cavatappi pasta, cooked and drained
4 cups shredded part-skim mozzarella cheese
8 ounces sliced pepperoni

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350°. In a large skillet, cook beef and onion over medium heat until meat is no longer pink; drain. Stir in spaghetti sauce and pasta. , Transfer to 2 greased 13x9-in. baking dishes. Sprinkle with cheese. Arrange pepperoni over the top. , Bake, uncovered, 25-30 minutes or until heated through. Freeze option: Cool unbaked casseroles; cover and freeze up to 3 months. To use, partially thaw in refrigerator overnight. Remove from refrigerator 30 minutes before baking. Preheat oven to 350°.
