HASTY PUDDING



Hasty Pudding image

This is a quick, yummy recipe that makes it's own hard sauce. Serve it with real cream. It's an old German recipe my family has made for many holidays.

1 cup packed brown sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
2 tablespoons butter
1 cup boiling water
½ cup white sugar
¾ cup all-purpose flour
½ cup milk
1 teaspoon baking powder
¾ cup chopped nuts
½ cup raisins

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease a 9 inch square baking dish.
  • In a medium bowl, mix together brown sugar, boiling water, vanilla, and butter. Pour into prepared baking dish.
  • In a clean bowl, mix together white sugar, flour, milk, baking powder, nuts, and raisins. Drop by spoonfuls on top of the mixture in the baking dish.
  • Bake in preheated oven for 30 minutes. Serve warm.

You can add a tablespoon of raisins or diced dried fruit to this dish for added flavor. It's similar to a rice pudding type of dessert.

1/2 cup Italian pastina
1 cup heavy cream
1/4 cup sugar
1 tablespoon butter
1/8 tablespoon cinnamon

Steps:

  • Cook pastina in boiling salted water until al dente.
  • Drain and return to saucepan.
  • Add in the cream and 2 tablespoons of the sugar.
  • Stir over low heat until hot and thickened, about 2 minutes.
  • Stir in butter.
  • Spoon into bowls.
  • Combine the remaining sugar and cinnamon to sprinkle over top of pudding.

PASTA RAISINS PUDDING WITH CARAMELIZED APPLE TOPPING

1 cup tiny shaped pasta of choice or orzo, boiled and drained
1/2 cup plumped up raisins
1 teaspoon grated orange zest
2 tablespoons melted butter
1/2 cup sugar
3 eggs, lightly beaten
2 cups scalded milk
1 cup orange juice
2 tablespoons butter
2 cups peeled and cored apples, cut into 1/4-inch dice
2 tablespoons brown sugar
Pinch ground cinnamon
Powdered sugar for garnish

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
  • Combine cooked pasta with raisins, zest and melted butter and spread into a shallow buttered 2 quart baking dish.
  • Beat sugar into eggs and whisk in milk and orange juice and pour over pasta. Set baking pan in a bain marie and bake for about an hour or until set.
  • While this is baking saute the apples in 2 tablespoons butter. Add sugar and cinnamon and saute over low heat until apples are tender and caramelized.
  • Remove pasta pudding from oven and let set 10 minutes before serving; serve topped with apples and a dusting of powdered sugar.

BLACK PUDDING PASTA

Steps:

  • Heat the olive oil in a frying pan and gently fry the onions until soft. Add the mushrooms and fry until soft. Add the black pudding and brown.
  • Meanwhile, boil water and cook the pasta until al dente.
  • Make up the Pepper sauce as instructed on packet.
  • When all of the above are ready, mix together and serve.

1 1/2 cup chocolate ganache
2 1/4 cup full cream milk
6 tablespoon powdered sugar
3 Numbers egg yolk
3 tablespoon corn flour
2 Pinch salt
2 tablespoon butter melted
2 teaspoon vanilla extract

Steps:

  • In a pudding bowl/ glass, pour 1/4 cup chocolate ganache in it. Now place the leftover 5 bowls on a slab and pour 1/4 cup chocolate ganache in each. Keep all the bowls in the freezer. Meanwhile, make the vanilla pudding.
  • Now, in a saucepan, pour milk followed by 3 tbsp of sugar. Let it come to a boil and then switch off the gas flame. Keep it aside.
  • In a blender, add egg yolks and 3 tbsp of sugar. Blend it well and then add 1/4 cup of the warm milk prepared. Blend it for 1 minute and then add salt and cornflour. Blend it and finally add the remaining milk. Blend it again till you get a smooth consistency.
  • Pour the prepared mixture into a saucepan. Stir the mixture continuously for 2-3 minutes on medium flame. Once the mixture has thickened well, switch off the gas flame. Now, add vanilla extract and melted butter to it. Whisk it well and ensure no lumps are formed. It should be smooth and have a thick consistency.
  • Now, take out the pudding bowls from the freezer and fill all of them with the vanilla pudding. Freeze it for at least 1 hour now.
  • Your Chocolate Vanilla ​Pudding is now ready. You can garnish it with some sprinkles or chocolate shavings.

3/4 c acini de pepe (pasta)
1 can(s) of pineapple tidbits (large)
1 can(s) of mandrin oranges (large)
3/4 c sugar
2 large eggs
3 Tbsp (heaping) flour
1 small cool whip
1 jar(s) maraschino cherries (halved) optional

Steps:

  • 1. Drain all of your fruit and reserve the juice. Keep the fruit in a container in your fridge.
  • 2. Cook pasta and set aside to cool.
  • 3. Combine your fruit juice, sugar, eggs and flour, cook on medium heat until thick.
  • 4. Poor thickened mixture over the pasta and refrigerate overnight.
  • 5. Next day, re drain your fruit and add into the pasta. Fold in your cool whip and serve! :)
