- Take racks out of your oven. Turn on your self cleaning oven (if you don't have a self cleaning oven it's OK just clean the racks the same way), put Hot water into your bathtub (about 5 to 8 inches) & 1/2 to 3/4 cup of powdered laundry detergent, swish around, put in racks, let sit, by the time your oven is done (about 3 hours) your racks will be clean, wipe down (use fingernail to pop/peel off the really bad spots if there are any, maybe use a toothbrush to get into the tight spots and rinse, spray in your favorite tub cleaner and clean your tub as you normally would. Perfect! Three chores done in one (oven clean, racks clean and bathtub clean). Once you find out how easy it is to clean those nasty racks you will never have to scour, scrape, get steel fibers from SOS pads in your fingers or buy expensive cleaners that DON'T work again! LOL!

- In the Bathtub. Lay an old towel in the bottom of the tub and place the oven racks on top. Add enough very hot water to cover the oven racks, then pour in up to 1/2 cup of dishwashing soap (or up to 3/4 cup laundry detergent).
- With a Trash Bag and Ammonia. Outside or in a ventilated area, place oven racks into a clean trash bag. Add 1 pint of ammonia. Tie the bag closed and let sit overnight.
- Using Dryer Sheets and Dishwashing Liquid. Place oven racks in a bathtub, washtub, or sink and fill with very hot water. Add a few squirts of dishwashing liquid to degrease the racks.
- With Bar Keepers Friend and Water. In a small bowl, make a paste with water and Bar Keepers Friend, the original powder-formula cleanser made of mineral abrasive, oxalic acid, surfactant, and a water-softening agent.
- With an Essential Oil Paste. In a small glass bowl, make a paste with baking soda, vinegar, and a few drops of orange essential oil. This natural oil contains powerful antimicrobial compounds called terpenes and has a pleasant citrus scent.

- Mix a Baking Soda Paste. In a small bowl combine: 1 cup baking soda. 2 tablespoons water. Stir well to make a thin, spreadable paste. You may need to adjust the amount of water slightly.
- Empty the Oven. Remove the racks and any other items in the oven. Protect the floor with newspapers or a drop cloth.
- Spread the Paste and Wait. Wearing gloves and protective eyewear, use a sponge or an old paintbrush to spread the paste. Cover all surfaces, including the door, except for electrical heating elements and gas vents.
- Clean the Racks. Place the racks in a large sink, bathtub, or heavy-duty plastic garbage bags. Spray the racks with distilled white vinegar. Sprinkle with baking soda and watch the foaming action.
- Clean and Reassemble the Oven. When the paste has had time to work, open the oven and wipe down all of the surfaces with a damp sponge or microfiber cloth.
