This is a quick and easy cranberry sauce recipe that will please the entire family. You will never buy canned cranberry sauce again! Prepare up to two days ahead and keep in the refrigerator.

- Mix cranberries, brown sugar, orange zest, orange juice, and cinnamon sticks together in a saucepan; bring to a boil. Reduce heat and simmer until cranberries pop and sauce is thickened, about 15 minutes.
- Transfer sauce to a bowl and refrigerate until chilled, at least 1 hour. Remove cinnamon stick from sauce and serve at room temperature.

Add 1 cup sugar, 1 strip orange or lemon zest and 2 tablespoons water to the pan and cook over low heat, stirring occasionally, until the sugar dissolves and the cranberries are soft, about 10 minutes. Increase the heat to medium and cook until the cranberries burst, about 12 minutes. Reduce the heat to low and stir in the reserved cranberries. - Add the cranberries, and reduce the heat to medium. Allow it to cook until you start to hear the cranberries popping.
- With a wooden spoon or potato masher (what I use), smash down the cranberries until it reaches your desired texture. I prefer mostly mushed with a few whole berries sprinkled in there.
- Remove from heat and stir in the orange zest. Allow sauce to cool for 20 minutes at room temperature (so it doesn't heat up your fridge), and transfer to an air-tight container and store in the refrigerator. It will thicken a bit as it cools.
