This easy Ginger Orange Dressing recipe uses only five main ingredients. It's a little sweet and a little spicy! Here's a basic recipe for an orange and ginger vinaigrette to perk up a simple green salad, your favourite coleslaw, or an Asian-inspired salad.

ORANGE GINGER DRESSING
This is great-I really like miso and this dressing is really good with spinach (I just ate it on its own but it would make a great salad accompaniment to an Asian-influenced meal).

Steps:
- Put ginger and shallot in a food processor fitted with a metal blade; you could also just mince these with a handheld mincer.
- Add remaining ingredients and blend.
ORANGE SHALLOT MAYONNAISE
Spread on a roast pork or turkey sandwich, or use as a dip for grilled shrimp or as a dressing for a fruit salad.

- Finely grate 1 teaspoon zest from an orange, then squeeze enough juice to measure 5 tablespoons.
- Boil 4 tablespoons orange juice with shallot in a very small heavy saucepan over moderate heat, stirring occasionally, until juice is almost evaporated, 4 to 5 minutes. Transfer shallot to a bowl to cool, then stir in zest, mayonnaise, lemon juice, pepper, and remaining tablespoon orange juice. Chill, covered, 1 hour (for flavors to develop).

- Coarsely grate a 2-inch piece of unpeeled ginger. Gather the gratings into a little ball and squeeze tightly. (This should produce 2 - 3 teaspoons of fresh ginger juice.).
- Place all ingredients in a small saucepan and mix well.
- Bring the sauce to a boil just before serving.
- Spoon over your favorite thing!

- Cook on low. heat for eight minutes or until caramelized.
- Add all the other items, bring to a boil then reduce heat and let simmer for 10 minutes.
- Note: I had to add about 1 tblspn corn starch to thicken sauce for my liking.
