ONION-POPPY SEED BISCUIT LOAF
I found this recipe in a magazine while waiting in a doctor's office. It looked so good, I made it that evening with dinner. This is tasty & quick, and I would imagine you could experiment with any number of seasonings to go with a variety of menus. These can also be baked separately on a cookie sheet instead of the loaf pan.

Steps:
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees; lightly grease a 9x5 loaf pan, or use a non-stick loaf pan& set aside.
- Melt butter or margarine in a medium-sized bowl; stir in the minced dried onion& poppy seeds.
- Open the cans of biscuits& separate them.
- Dip each biscuit quickly into the butter mixture, turning to coat both sides.
- Line up the biscuits in the loaf pan, standing them on edge, forming two long rows; drizzle any remaining butter mixture on top of completed loaf.
- Bake in preheated oven for 20-25 minutes or until golden brown.
- (You may find you need to lower your oven temperature to 325 degrees in order for the middles of the center biscuits to get done; or you can bake these individually on a cookie sheet after dipping them in the butter mixture.).
ONION POPPY SEED BISCUITS
There is something about the taste of onion in bread that just makes my mouth water. I found this wonderful recipe and photo in a Taste of Home cookbook.

Steps:
- 1. In a small nonstick skillet coated with cooking spray, saute the onion until tender; set aside.
- 2. In a large bowl, combine the flour, baking powder, brown sugar, poppy seeds, salt and baking soda. Cut in the butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
- 3. Stir in the onions. Stir in the buttermilk just until moistened.
- 4. Turn the dough onto a lightly floured surface; knead 6-8 times. Pat to 1/2-in. thickness; cut with a floured 2-1/2-in. biscuit cutter.
- 5. Place biscuits 2 inches apart on baking sheets coated with cooking spray.
- 6. Bake in a preheated 450-degree oven for 9-12 minutes or until golden brown. Serve warm.
- 7. NOTE: If you don't have buttermilk, you may substitute 1 Tbsp. of white vinegar or lemon juice and enough milk to measure a total of 1 cup (for 1 cup buttermilk).

SAVORY POPPY SEED HAM & CHEESE BUSCUITS
This recipe was given to me by one of my best friends who is a SUPER cook! EVERYONE loves them and they have become a staple at our get togethers. They are super easy (I describe things in too much detail so I hope it doesn't look TOO complicated...trust me it's not!) One of those definitely EASY, SURE FIRE, "go-to" recipes...

Steps:
- 1. Preheat your oven to 350 degrees. Take out one group of the Martin's party rolls (there are typically two groups of 12 ea in a bag that are still all attached). I slice 1/2 way through one section, making a top and bottom but keeping everything still attached (so it's almost like a big sandwich).
- 2. Cover the bottom section with pieces of ham. The amount is really to your preference and how thick you would like the biscuits although typically I wouldn't do more than doubling it. Next place the slices of swiss cheese on top of the ham. Again somewhat to your preference but again typically no more than double.
- 3. Place the top of the rolls back on top of the ham and cheese. Repeat all steps for the second section of rolls. Place each group on an ungreased cookie sheet.
- 4. For sauce, melt butter (can either do in a small saucepan on the stove or I've even done in a coffee mug in the microwave and mixed everything in there). Add in all dry ingredients.
- 5. With some sort of basting brush, generously brush the mixture onto the top of the rolls. Be sure to keep mixing so as to get the poppy seeds and minced onion as they might settle on the bottom. Place in heated oven for 6-7 minutes.
- 6. Remove from oven and AGAIN generously brush the top of the rolls with the butter mixture. Return to the oven for approximately 6-7 minutes. Remove from oven and cut along the pre-cut lines of the rolls. Serve warm.
HERBED BISCUITS (QUICK AND EASY)
These are made with refrigerated biscuits, all dressed up with some butter and seasoned with onion, garlic, basil/dillweed, poppy seeds and parmesan cheese. Not gourmet, but sometimes you need something quick and easy!

Steps:
- Pour the melted butter into an 8-inch round cakepan. Sprinkle onion, garlic, basil or dillweed, and poppy seeds evenly over the butter. Set aside.
- Place the Parmesan cheese in a large heavy duty, zip-lock plastic bag. Cut each biscuit into 4 pices; add the biscuit pieces to the bag and shake them to coat.
- Arrange the coated biscuit pieces in the prepared pan; I like to turn mine over a bit so all sides have a little bit of the seasoning. Sprinkle with any remaining Parmesan cheese from the zip-lock bag.
- Bake at 400 degrees for 14 to 16 minutes or until golden brown.

ONION-POPPY SEED LOAF
This recipe comes from Betty Crocker's Bread Machine Cookbook. I've made it a few times and absolutely love it made into a sandwich with Black Forest ham. The measurements I am giving are for a 1-1/2 lb. loaf.
