These fluffy well-seasoned biscuits make a pleasant accompaniment to almost any meal.

Number Of Ingredients 11

2 cups all-purpose flour
1 tablespoon baking powder
1 tablespoon minced fresh thyme or 1 teaspoon dried thyme
1 teaspoon dried savory
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon baking soda
1/4 teaspoon pepper
1-1/2 cups reduced-fat sour cream
2 tablespoons olive oil
1/4 cup thinly sliced green onions
1 tablespoon butter, melted

Steps:

  • In a large bowl, combine the flour, baking powder, thyme, savory, salt, baking soda and pepper. Combine sour cream and oil. Stir sour cream mixture into dry ingredients just until blended and mixture holds together. Stir in green onions. , Turn onto a lightly floured surface; gently knead three or four times. Roll dough to 3/4 in. thickness; cut with a floured 2-1/2 in. biscuit cutter. Place 1 in. apart on ungreased baking sheet. , Brush lightly with butter. Bake at 400° for 14-18 minutes or until lightly browned. Serve warm.

When ready to serve, thaw, wrap in foil, and heat in a 325º oven for 10 to 12 minutes or until thoroughly heated.

1 cup onion, chopped
3/4 cup buttermilk, chilled
2 cups all-purpose flour
2 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon sugar
1/2 teaspoon fresh rosemary, minced
1/2 teaspoon fresh sage, minced
1/2 teaspoon fresh thyme, minced
1/4 cup unsalted butter, chilled cut into small pieces

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 425°. Heat a small skillet coated with cooking spray over medium heat. Add onion; cook 6 minutes or until tender, stirring frequently. Spoon onion into a blender. Add buttermilk and process until smooth. Cool.
  • Lightly spoon flours into dry measuring cups, and level with a knife. Combine flours and next 5 ingredients (flours through herbs) in a food processor with a metal blade; pulse until the mixture resembles coarse meal. Add onion mixture; stir just until moist.
  • Turn dough out onto a heavily floured surface (dough will be sticky), and knead lightly 5 times with floured hands. Roll dough to a 1/2-inch thickness; cut into 10 biscuits with a 3-inch biscuit cutter.
  • Place on a baking sheet coated with cooking spray. Bake at 425° for 12 minutes or until golden.

1 (12 ounce) package refrigerated buttermilk biscuit dough
½ cup melted butter
1 ½ teaspoons dried parsley
1 ½ teaspoons dried dill weed
¼ teaspoon dried minced onion

Steps:

  • In a medium bowl, blend melted butter with the dried parsley, dill weed, and onion flakes.
  • Cut buttermilk biscuits into quarters. Roll each biscuit quarter in herb butter. Place in 8 inch cake pan, with pieces touching. Pour remaining butter over biscuits.
  • Bake in a 425 degree F (220 degrees C) oven for 12 minutes. Serve warm.

1 cup 1% buttermilk

Steps:

  • Preheat an oven to 450 degrees F (230 degrees C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  • Whisk the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt together in a bowl. Cut the butter into the flour mixture until the mixture resembles course crumbs. Stir the onion, Parmesan cheese, and Cheddar cheese into the flour mixture. Pour the buttermilk into the bowl; stir until evenly combined. 1 tablespoon canola oil
1 medium onion, finely chopped
2 garlic cloves, minced
2 cups biscuit/baking mix
1/2 teaspoon dried thyme
2/3 cup 2% milk

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 450°. In a skillet, heat oil over medium heat. Add onion; cook and stir 3-4 minutes or until tender. Stir in garlic; cook 1 minute longer. Cool completely., In a large bowl, combine baking mix, thyme and onion mixture; make a well in center. Pour milk into well; stir just until moistened. Drop dough by rounded tablespoonfuls 2 in. apart onto a greased baking sheet., Bake 8-10 minutes or until golden brown. Serve warm.
