KHABEESA
Found on http://arabic-food.blogspot.com/. I have seen elswhere that it is common to Oman. I'm posting it here because I want to try it soon. I'm guessing at the yield, the photo on the recipe shows it in 4 pieces made in different sized and shaped molds.

Steps:
- Sift the flour and add it to a large saucepan placed over medium heat. Toss flour and stir continuously until golden brown. Remove from heat and sift again.
- Add water, saffron, sugar, cardamom, rose water, desiccated coconut and half the quantity of butter to a large saucepan. Bring ingredients to boil.
- Add the toasted flour gradually to the water while stirring continuously.
- Add remaining butter, and stir until well combined. Cover and cook on very low heat for 30 minutes. Remove from heat and cool.
- Add Sweetened Condensed Milk and stir until well combined.
- Serve at room temperature with coffee.

The NA/ME Forum will be spending January 2013 exploring the country & here is my culinary contribution. **2 of 3 people LOVED this! It took awhile for it all to come to a boil & from there I simmered 5 minutes. It thickened upon standing. Enjoy!**

- Combine all of the ingredients in a sauce pan with a whisk. Bring to a boil.
- Reduce heat to the lowest level and simmer for 10 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- Serve warm topped with a bit of butter, if desired.

- In a medium sauce pan combine Semolina and Milk and bring to a boil.
- Add NESTLE Sweetened Condensed Milk, Cardamom, Butter, Rosewater and Saffron Powder and continue to cook for 10 minutes.
- Transfer to a serving bowl and allow to cook and before serving. The Khabeesa will become slightly thick as it cools down.

Steps:
- Make the Syrup: Mix the 3/4 cup of sugar and 1 cup of water in a saucepan. Bring to a boil. Reduce heat to medium low and boil for 5 minutes. Set aside to cool.
- In a bowl mix the flour, farina, sugar, baking powder, and coconut. In another bowl, mix the eggs, milk, and vanilla. Add the wet mixture to the dry mixture, and stir until well mixed
- Pour into a 8" x 11" lightly greased cake pan and bake at about 350 degrees F until a toothpick or knife inserted near the center comes out clean. If the top is not already a golden brown, then broil the top for a minute or two to achieve this color.
- Remove from the oven. Over the hot cake, pour the cooled syrup. Leave to cool, then serve.
