SLOW COOKER OLD WORLD CHICKEN AND VEGETABLES

My family (even the little ones) really like this dish. It is simple to prepare and very tasty. Although the recipe says to cook 8 hours, I usually cook 4 to 5 hours on low. My slow cooker must usually run hot.

Number Of Ingredients 10

1 tablespoon dried oregano
1 teaspoon salt, divided
1 teaspoon paprika
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
1/4 teaspoon black pepper
2 medium green bell peppers, cut into thin strips
1 small yellow onion, thinly sliced
4 chicken breasts, bone in
1/3 cup ketchup
egg noodles or rice, hot cooked

Steps:

  • Combine oregano, 1/2 teaspoon salt, paprika, garlic powder and black pepper in a small bowl; mix well.
  • Place bell peppers and onion in slow cooker.
  • Add chicken; sprinkle with the oregano mixture.
  • Cover; cook on LOW 8 hours or on HIGH 4 hours.
  • Stir in ketchup and remaining 1/2 teaspoon of salt.
  • If desired, cut chicken and let it sit in the sauce, for a half hour or so before serving, to absorb the flavor.
  • Serve chicken and vegetables over hot cooked noodles or rice.

I'm all about trying new recipes, I found this in one of my cookbooks for the crock pot thought I would try it.Awesome recipe my family loved it and yes, my husband is a very picky eater and he like it. ENJOY!

1 Tbsp dried oregano
1 tsp salt, divided
1 tsp paprika
1/2 tsp garlic powder
1/4 tsp black pepper
2 medium grenn bell peppers, cut into thin strips
1 small yellow onion, thinly sliced
1 cut-up whole chicken (about 3 pounds)
1/3 c ketchup
hot cooked egg noodles

Steps:

  • 1. Combine oregano, 1/2 teaspoon salt,paprika,garlic powder and black pepper in small bowl; mix well
  • 2. Place bell peppers and onion in CROCK-POT slow cooker. Add chicken thighs and legs, and sprinkle with half of oregano mixture. Add chicken breasts, and sprinkle on remaining oregano mixture. Cover; cook on LOW 8 hours or on HIGH 4 hours. Stir in ketchup and remaining 1/2 teaspoon salt.
  • 3. Serve chicken and vegetables over noodles.

Delicios old world flavor chicken and dumpling soup. This is a simple chicken stock soup. If you like you can add vegetables of your choice.

Number Of Ingredients 10

3 lbs chicken
2 quarts water
10 hard rolls (Kaiser rolls)
1 -2 cup warm milk
1/2 cup Canadian bacon, diced (optional)
1 tablespoon butter, softened
1 small onion, diced (optional)
1 tablespoon parsley flakes
3 eggs
salt and pepper

Steps:

  • Slice hard rolls thinly and place in a large bowl; set aside to dry overnight.
  • Add the water to the chicken, season to taste and cook slowly for several hours.
  • An hour or so before serving time, make soup balls as follows:
  • Soak bread in warm milk. Bread should be moist, but not soggy.
  • If using, fry onion and bacon in butter until onion is tender (If not using skip to step 7).
  • Stir onion and bacon into moist bread.
  • Add parsley flakes, eggs, salt and pepper to bread.
  • Stir to combine all ingredients.
  • Shape into large dumplings.
  • Drop into boiling soup.
  • Simmer uncovered, for 20 minutes, or until dumplings rise to surface.

1 lb chicken, cubed
1 cup died potato
1 cup sliced cabbage
3/4 cup sliced carrot
3/4 cup parsnip
1/2 cup sliced celery
1/2 cup sliced green onion
2 cups small cauliflower florets
2 ounces egg noodles, cooked
salt and pepper

Steps:

  • Combine all ingredients except cauliflower, noodles salt and pepper in slow cooker.
  • Cover and cook on low 6-8 hours, adding cauliflower and noodles during the last 30 minutes. Season to taste with salt and pepper.
