I have not tried this recipe. I got this recipe from Toast To Life. I plan to use Splenda for the sugar.

2 quarts apple cider
2 cups orange juice
2 cups pineapple juice
1 cup lemon juice
1 teaspoon whole cloves
1 cinnamon stick
sugar or honey

Steps:

  • Mix cider, orange juice, pineapple juice, lemon juice, cloves, cinnamon stick and sugar or honey; simmer for half hour.
  • Serve directly from the pan, or strain and put in a coffeepot or teapot with insulated handle, or keep hot in a crockpot on low temperature.
  • Stores well in the refrigerator.

8 cups apple cider
2 cups orange juice
1/2 cup lemon juice
4 whole cinnamon sticks
12 whole cloves (or 1 teaspoon ground cloves)
1/4 teaspoon ground ginger
1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg

Steps:

  • Combine all ingredients in a large pan.
  • Bring to simmer over medium-low heat. Reduce heat and continue simmering for 45 minutes. Ladle into cups or mugs and enjoy!

You'll be ready to go a-wassailing with this hot toddy recipe that blends apple cider, orange juice and fall spices into a delicious warm beverage.

1 gallon apple cider
2 cups orange juice
1 cup lemon juice
½ cup sugar
2 teaspoons cinnamon
1 teaspoon cloves
1 teaspoon nutmeg
1 orange, sliced
½ cup brandy, optional

Steps:

  • Mix juices, sugar and seasonings together. Add the brandy at this point to make the alcoholic wassail.. Slowly bring to a boil in a large saucepan or pot. Boil for 1 minute.. Reduce heat and simmer for 30 minutes.. Serve hot with sliced oranges floating in the punch bowl.

3/4 cup sugar
1 quart apple juice
1 quart apple cider
1 pint cranberry juice
1 teaspoon aromatic bitters
1 cup rum
2 cinnamon sticks
1 teaspoon whole allspice
1 orange
6 cloves

Steps:

  • Dissolve the sugar in the juices and warm over medium heat.
  • Add the bitters and the rum and simmer for 15 minutes.
  • Reduce heat.
  • Stud the orange with the allspice and cloves add to the liquid with the cinnamon and steep for 4 hours. Do not boil.

  • While the apples bake, pour the apple cider and brandy into a large soup pot and warm the mixture over medium-low heat. Do not bring it to a boil. Add the ginger and nutmeg. Place the allspice berries, cloves, and cinnamon sticks into a tea bag or tie them into a bundle of cheesecloth to keep them from getting lost as they steep. Place the bag into the cider and heat the cider until warm, 20-30 min. (Alternately, place the wassail mixture into a large slow cooker. Heat on low for 4-5 hours.)
  • In a small bowl, beat the egg yolks until pale in color and frothy using an electric hand mixer. Set aside.

  • In a large pot over low heat, stir together apple cider, cinnamon sticks, nutmeg, allspice, ginger, sliced orange and apple. Add pomander orange to the pot and simmer uncovered for at least 2 hours. Alternately add mixture to a slow cooker and cook on low heat for 4 hours.
  • Before serving, strain spices from the cider, but reserve the pomander orange. Add cider back into the pot with the pomander orange. Serve warm.
