OK-So this isn't exactly a food recipe but it uses food stuff and it looks pretty cool too! Fun for kids to make.Plus you can point out that oil is lighter than vinegar...a little Science never hurt anyone!

Number Of Ingredients 3

1 cup white vinegar
3 -5 drops blue food coloring (depending on how blue that you want your ocean)
2 cups mineral oil

Steps:

  • In a clean jar/bottle with a lid put 1 cup of vinegar.
  • Add your food coloring.
  • Add your mineral oil and close lid tight.
  • Set on a flat surface and watch it swooch.
  • Have fun!

  • Mix canola oil and tempera paint powder in a small disposable or metal bowl. Let the mixture sit for about 10 minutes so any un dissolved tempera paint settles at the bottom of the bowl.
  • Using the funnel, slowly pour the oil mixture into the plastic soda bottle, making sure you do not pour the powder at the bottom of the bowl into the bottle.
  • After you have pour the oil mixture into the bottle, pour water into the bottle until it is full. Screw on the cap on tightly. Now you can slowly tilt the bottle left and right. Watch the waves crash against the sides of the bottle.
