I made this last night and it is heavenly. The recipe comes from the cookbooklet that came with my BM. This would be great the next toasted with some peanut butter on or some jam.

Number Of Ingredients 8

1 1/2 cups hot water (115 - 125 F)
2 tablespoons canola oil
1/4 cup packed brown sugar
1 teaspoon salt
3 cups bread flour
1 1/2 cups quick-cooking oatmeal
1/2 cup fine chopped dates
2 tablespoons fast rising yeast

Steps:

  • Place all ingredients into the bread pan in the following order:.
  • water, oil, brown sugar, salt, flour. oatmeal, dates, yeast.
  • With your finge make a samll indentation for the yeast so it does not touch the water.
  • Carefully insert pan into bread maker. Choose express bake and start.
  • Once it is done, carefully run a rubber spatual around the sides to loosen.
  • Place on rack to cool. Enjoy!

This is a very nice, basic oatmeal bread for your bread machine that I do make fairly often. The ingredients are simple, and great for those avoiding dairy products, since it's made with water. I think you'll like it. NOTE: I never tried it with wheat germ, but I'd bet it would be great! Baking time will vary based on your machine.

1 cup water
2 tablespoons honey
1 1/2 tablespoons butter or 1 1/2 tablespoons margarine
2/3 cup quick-cooking oats
2 1/3 cups bread flour
1 tablespoon wheat germ (optional)
1 1/4 teaspoons salt
2 1/4 teaspoons active dry yeast (1 package)

Steps:

  • PUt ingredients into the bread machine according to manufacturer's directions.
  • Bake on basic white 1.
  • 1.5 pound setting.

This is for the quick bread/cake cycle of an ABM. It is not a yeast bread. Posted in response to a request.

3/4 cup chopped dates
3 tablespoons unsalted butter, 1/2 in. pieces
3/4 cup boiling water
2/3 cup granulated sugar
1 1/3 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/3 cup chopped walnuts

Steps:

  • Place ingredients in order given in bread pan. Set machine to quick bread/cake cycle, medium crust.
  • After batter has mixed for 4 minutes, stir sides and bottom with rubber scraper to ensure complete mixing.
  • Just before baking starts, pause machine and remove paddle (if your machine has this feature). When baking is completed, remove bread from machine, put on wire rack to cool. Bread slices best cool. Wrap in plastic wrap to maintain freshness.

A hearty nutritious bread from your bread machine. I've been experimenting with many Molasses Oatmeal Bread recipes. By experimentation, I've created my favorite. The foundation for this recipe was from CaramelPie.

1 1/4 cups lukewarm water
1 egg
1 tablespoon vegetable oil
1/2 cup molasses
1 teaspoon salt
3 cups bread flour
1 cup oatmeal
2 teaspoons yeast

Steps:

  • Add 1 cup water to measuring cup.
  • Crack egg into water.
  • Add additional lukewarm water to make 1 1/4 cup.
  • Mix egg and water with fork and pour into bread machine pan.
  • Add additional ingredients in order in recipe.
  • Set bread machine settings to basic white setting with light crust.
  • If dough appears too sticky, add a small amount of bread flour to pan. Keep adding until dough leaves side of pan.

1 cup oatmeal (not instant)
1 cup pitted dates, chopped
2 cups flour
4 teaspoons baking powder
1 1/2 teaspoons salt
3/4 cup sugar
1 egg

Steps:

  • Bring milk almost to a simmer. Place oatmeal and dates in a large mixing bowl and add milk. Set aside to cool to room temperature. In another bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, salt and sugar. When oat mixture is cool, beat in egg. Stir in dry ingredients, mixing well.
  • Pour batter into a buttered 9x5 inch loaf pan. Bake at 325 degrees for 45-50 minutes or until the top is crusty and golden. Cool before slicing.
