Steps:
- Preheat oven to 450 degrees.
- The secret to excellent biscuits is COLD BUTTER. Really cold. Many times the biscuit dough gets worked so much that the butter softens before the biscuits even go in the oven. Try cutting the butter into small pieces and stick back in the fridge pulling out only when ready to incorporate into the dough.
- Combine the dry ingredients in a large bowl.
- Use a pastry cutter to cut cold butter into flour mixture. Don't go too crazy here - you want to see small, pea-sized pieces of butter throughout the dough.
- Add in the milk and egg and mix just until the ingredients are combined. The dough will be sticky but don't keep working it. You should be able to see the butter pieces in the dough.
- Turn the dough out onto a generously floured surface. Sprinkle some flour on to the top of dough so it won't stick to your fingers and knead 10-15 times. If the dough is super sticky just sprinkle on some additional flour.
- Pat the dough out to 3/4 - 1 inch thickness and cut with a biscuit cutter or glass. I ended up with nine this time but depending on who is snacking on biscuit dough, I can get up to 12 biscuits.
- Place the biscuits on a lightly greased baking sheet or parchment lined baking sheet and bake for 10 to 15 minutes or until golden brown on top.
- For extra yumminess, brush the tops of the biscuits with melted butter...

Steps:
- Place a rack in the center of your oven and preheat to 450 degrees F. Line a large baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone baking mat. Dice the butter into small pieces and place it in the freezer while you prepare the other ingredients.
- In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, whole wheat flour, baking powder, and salt. (If adding any herbs, garlic powder, or black pepper, do it here.)
- Scatter the cold butter pieces over the top. With a pastry blender (or my favorite, your fingers), cut in the butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Some pieces may be the size of small pebbles and others as large as peas.
- In a separate bowl or large measuring cup, whisk together the milk, Greek yogurt, and honey until smoothly combined. Pour the milk mixture into the dry ingredients a little at a time, stirring lightly between additions. (If adding cheese, add it slowly as you add the milk.) Stop stirring as soon as the dough holds together. It will be very moist and seem wet.
- Drop the batter by spoonfuls onto a cookie sheet. I like to use a muffin scoop for this-you'll have 9 large or 12(ish) more moderately sized biscuits total. Bake for 10 to 13 minutes, until the tops are golden and spring back lightly when touched. Enjoy warm.

NO FAIL DROP BISCUITS
I usually have all these ingredients on hand so are easy and quick to make. A nice addition to any meal, expecially when you want to stretch it out for unexpected company. Steps:
- 1. Preheat oven to 35o degrees. Coat baking sheet with cooking spray. In med. bowl, combine flour, baking powder, salt, and butter and mix til crumbly. (Do not over blend.) Add egg and milk and mix till moistened. Drop by heaping tablespoonfuls onto the baking sheet. Bake for 20 to 25 min. or until golden brown. I added ched. chez and real bacon bits to the dough for something different. Another time I sprinkled chives in the dough. Or you can add some garlic powder, cajun or Taco seasoning. Mix it up! Am thinking of trying them with some dried fruit in the mix as well with a little sugar.

Steps:
- Gather the ingredients.
- Sift the flour, baking powder, and salt together in a large bowl.
- Add the milk and mix. The batter should be thick enough to be scooped and dropped from a spoon. Let it rest for a few minutes.
- Once the boiling stew or soup is nearly done, drop spoonfuls of the batter on top. Be sure that there is plenty of liquid in the pot, but try to keep the dumplings on top of the vegetables and meat.
- Cover and cook for about 10 to 15 minutes, depending on the size of the dumplings. Do not remove the lid until it is time to check the dumplings; when ready, a toothpick inserted into one of the dumplings should come out clean.
- Once done, spoon the stew or soup with the dumplings into a bowl and enjoy.

TENDER HOMEMADE SOUR CREAM BISCUITS (NO-FAIL RECIPE)
I've tried biscuit recipes for most of my life. Some work, some don't. Some are ok, but this one is GOOD. And it's an easy NO-FAIL recipe. I haven't even tried another one in years. I've been making these for a very long time now, and cannot remember where it came from. :/ But if you love homemade biscuits and have never had very...

Steps:
- 1. In medium-sized bowl, whisk first 4 ingredients til well mixed.
- 2. Add sour cream in spoonfuls on top, add oil and mix til all is just moistened with a spoon. Switch to using your hands turning the dough to get all the last of the dry stuff on the bottom of the bowl. Knead 8 times on floured surface.
- 3. Roll thick to only about an 8" circle. Just a few passes with your (floured) rolling pin. Cut out 6 biscuits with a biscuit cutter or a floured glass. Get 2 more out of the last of the dough. (Bunch it back together, knead it just a bit, pat or roll it and cut.) Pitch any last little tidbit if any left. I place mine on my old round metal pizza pan covered with foil and sprayed with butter-flavored Pam. But a cookie sheet will work just fine.
- 4. Place little pats of butter on top, or spread it a little if the butter is VERY soft and doesn't deflate the biscuits while doing so. Bake in hot, preheated 425 oven for 12-15 minutes (ovens vary) or til golden brown on top. Remove from oven and butter tops again with other half of butter. Serve warm with more butter and homemade jam or honey. Makes 8 tall sour cream biscuits.

- Preheat the oven to 450°F, with a rack in the top third., Mix the flour and cream until smooth and cohesive., For standard-sized biscuits, scoop 1-ounce balls of dough onto an ungreased or parchment-lined baking sheet; a tablespoon cookie scoop works well here.
- Leave a couple of inches between them. Not into scooping? Pat the dough 3/4" thick and cut biscuits with a cutter instead, if desired.
- For larger biscuits, simply scoop the dough into 1 1/2-ounce balls, to make 8 biscuits; or 2-ounce balls, to make 6., Brush the tops of the biscuits with cream, milk, or water; this will help them rise., Bake the biscuits for 10 minutes, until they're light golden brown on top.
- Bake larger biscuits a minute or so longer, or until they're baked all the way through; break one open to make sure., Remove the biscuits from the oven, and serve warm, or at room temperature.

- Divide the butter into a 5 tablespoons hunk and a 3 tablespoons hunk. Keep the paper on the 5 ounce chunk so you can hold it without melting it all over your hands. Roll the paper back and grate the 5 ounce chunk with the large holes on a box grater right onto the baking sheet, then mix it into the flour with a fork, a handful at a time, until all the grated butter is coated. This is a brilliant trick that I discovered reading every recipe I could find. So fast and easy.
- Pour in the buttermilk and stir it with a fork until the liquid and all the dry ingredients are absorbed. You should have a wet sticky dough. Stick it in the fridge for about 15 minutes.

- Before starting to preheat the oven to 400°F. Sift the flour using a colander or a sifting device. Add the flour to a large mixing bowl. Add the salt and the baking powder and whisk.
- Add the cold butter pieces to the dry ingredients and using a fork or a pastry cutter start incorporating the unsalted butter to the flour. Take your time and make sure all ingredients mix together. You will know this has happened when the flour looks like sand.
- Until then add the buttermilk little by little. Start with 3/4 of a cup and mix using a wooden spoon. Then add a little bit more of the buttermilk and continue stirring. The batter has to be wet and not dry. It will look lumpy but that is fine.
- Cover a baking sheet with parchment paper. Using a scoop or a cup start measuring the amount of batter per biscuit and drop. This recipe results in six medium size biscuits.

- Add the chicken to a large pot of water. Add the bouillon cubes, salt & pepper and bring to a boil over high heat. Reduce heat to medium, cover with a lid, and cook under chicken is tender, at least one hour. Turn off heat under the pot and transfer chicken to a bowl. Once chicken has cooled, remove skin and bones and tear chicken into bite size pieces and set aside.
- In a large bowl, mix together the flour, salt, and pepper. Add the chicken broth and sour cream. Mix just enough to combine. The mixture will be wet.
- Whisk the cornstarch into the cup of milk. Add the milk to the hot broth and stir constantly over medium heat until the mixture thickens. This takes about 2 to 3 minutes. Remove the pot from the heat and taste the broth. Add additional salt and pepper to taste, then transfer the dumplings back to the pot.
