NILLA WAFERS ORIGINAL BANANA PUDDING

Steps:
- Combine 1/2 cup sugar, flour and salt in top of double boiler.
- Stir in 4 egg yolks and milk; blend well.
- Cook, uncovered, over boiling water, stirring constantly until thickened.
- Reduce heat and cook, stirring occasionally, for 5 minutes.
- Remove from heat; add vanilla.
- Spread small amount on bottom of 1 1/2 quart casserole; cover with layer of Nilla Wafers. Top with layer of sliced bananas.
- Pour about 1/3 of the custard over bananas. Continue to layer wafers, bananas and custard to make 3 layers each, ending with custard.
- Beat egg whites until stiff but not dry; gradually add remaining 1/4 cup sugar and beat until stiff peaks form. Spoon on top of pudding, spreading to cover entire surface and sealing well to edges.
- Bake at 425 degrees for 5 minutes or until delicately browned.
- Cool slightly or chill.
- Just before serving, garnish with banana slices, then stand Nilla Wafers upright around edge of dish.

This is the best banana pudding ever, thats what i am told over and over and i just chuckle cause its soooo easy. made three of these over the weekend and my daughters coworkers devoured one and asked for more, the family ate one and some friends who dropped in demolished the third. - 1. Prepare pudding according to package. And let sit for the two minutes.
- 2. Line bottom and sides of a 9 X 9 glass pan with Nilla wafers.
- 3. To the banana pudding bowl, fold in 1/2 tub of cool whip whipped topping. Fold until completely blended.
- 4. Pour 1/2 the pudding mix over the nilla wafers.
- 5. Lay rows of banana slices over this.
- 6. Place nilla wafers in between bananas, then top all this with remaining pudding.
- 7. Make rows of nilla wafers and bananas by alternating wafer, banana, wafer banana.
- 8. Top the banana slices with dollops of remaining cool whip.
- 9. Refrigerate several hours before serving

- In a large bowl, beat cream cheese until fluffy and with no clumps. Add sweetened condensed milk, pudding mix, cold milk and vanilla and beat until smooth.
- Fold in 8 oz. whipped cream and mix until combined. Let chill in fridge for 30 minutes.
- Line the bottom of a trifle dish with vanilla wafers around the edge. Add half the pudding mixture and spread across, topped with a layer of sliced bananas. Add a layer of whipped topping. Repeat layers. Nilla wafers - pudding mixture - bananas - whipped topping.

- Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
- Line the bottom and sides of a 9-inch pie plate with a layer of alternating vanilla wafer crumbs and banana slices.
- To Make Pudding: In a medium saucepan, combine 1 1/2 cups sugar with flour. Mix well, then stir in half the milk. Beat egg yolks and whisk into sugar mixture. Add remaining milk and butter or margarine.
- Place mixture over low heat and cook until thickened, stirring frequently. Remove from heat and stir in vanilla extract. Pour half of pudding over vanilla wafer and banana layer while still hot.
- Make another layer of alternating vanilla wafers and banana slices on top of pudding layer. Pour remaining pudding over second wafer and banana layer.
- To Make Meringue: In a large glass or metal bowl, beat egg whites until foamy. Gradually add 1/4 cup sugar, continuing to beat until whites are stiff. Spread meringue into pie pan, making sure to completely cover pudding layer.
- Bake in preheated oven for 15 minutes, just until meringue is browned. Chill before serving.

- Add heavy whipping cream to the bowl of a stand mixer or large bowl and beat on medium high speed for a minute or two until soft peaks form.
- Add powdered sugar and vanilla extract and continue beating until stiff peaks form. Set aside.
- Add cream cheese to the bowl of a stand mixer or large bowl and beat until smooth. Add sweetened condensed milk and beat until combined.
- Add pudding mixes and milk and beat for 4 to 5 minutes, scraping down the sides of the bowl as needed.
- Fold in two-thirds of the whipped cream.
- Line a 9 x13 baking dish with one layer of Nilla Wafer cookies. Top with half of the banana slices.
- Spread half of the pudding mixture on top of the bananas and add another layer of Nilla wafers.
- One more layer of banana slices, the remaining pudding mixture and then top with remaining whipped cream.
- Cover and refrigerate for at least 4 hours or overnight.
- Remove from refrigerator and garnish as desired. Mini Nilla Wafers, banana slices, or wafer crumbs are great ideas! Serve immediately.
