½ cup extra virgin olive oil
½ cup Worcestershire sauce
¼ cup minced garlic
¼ cup steak seasoning
1 tablespoon red wine vinegar
½ teaspoon dried basil
½ teaspoon Italian seasoning
4 (1/2 pound) New York strip steaks

Steps:

  • In a bowl, mix the olive oil, Worcestershire sauce, garlic, steak seasoning, red wine vinegar, basil, and Italian seasoning. Pour into a large resealable plastic bag. Pierce steaks on all sides with a fork, and place in the bag. Gently shake to coat. Seal bag and marinate steaks a minimum of 2 hours in the refrigerator.
  • Preheat grill for high heat.
  • Lightly oil the grill grate. Discard marinade. Place steaks on the grill, and cook 7 minutes on each side, or to desired doneness.

2 New York Strip Steaks
Garlic Salt
Fresh Ground Pepper

Steps:

  • Approximately 45 minute before you are ready to grill your New York strip steaks, take them out of the fridge and rub in some garlic salt and fresh ground pepper. Leave them on the counter to let them warm to room temperature.
  • Preheat the grill on high for direct grilling.
  • Clean your grill with a grill brush.
  • Hold your hand about 2 inches above the grill and see if the temperature is right. For gas grilling steaks over high heat, you don't want to be able to hold your hand over the grill for more than 5 seconds. Don't try to be tough, you know when it is hot!
  • Place the new york strip steaks on the grill with tongs. NEVER pierce the skin of the steaks with a fork!
  • After about 2 minutes, use tongs to pick up the steaks, rotate 90 degrees and then place the steaks back on the grill for those nice grill marks.
  • After 2 more minutes, you are ready to flip the steaks. Pick them up and flip them over. This is the only time you are going to flip the steaks (we told you this was easy).
  • After another 2 minutes, rotate the New York strip steaks another 90 degrees.
  • Now grill them for a final 2 minutes and they should be ready. Take the grilled steaks off the grill and let them rest for at least 5 minutes before serving. You can always stick them back on the grill for a few minutes if they aren't done enough.

6 New York strip steaks
Kosher salt
Black pepper
Smokey Bacon Port Sauce, recipe follows
2 pounds smoked bacon, finely diced
1 1/2 liters Port wine
1 cup finely diced shallots
6 ounces green peppercorns
1/4 cup cornstarch
2 cups water
Salt

Steps:

  • Oil and preheat the grill.
  • Season both sides of the steaks with salt and pepper. Place steaks on grill at a 45 degree angle to establish nice grill marks. Cook steaks to desired doneness or until the internal temperature reaches 125 to 130 degrees F for medium-rare, about 8 to 10 minutes.
  • Remove the steaks from the grill and let rest for 5 minutes. Spoon the Smokey Bacon Port Sauce over the meat. Serve with your favorite side dishes.
  • Render the bacon in a saucepan over medium-low heat until golden brown. Once bacon has been rendered, strain off the excess fat and put the pan back on the fire. Deglaze the pan with 2/3 of the Port wine and scrape the bottom of the saucepan to get all the bacon off the bottom and sides of the pan. Turn up the heat to medium and the alcohol should ignite. Reduce the wine by 1/4 and skim off any impurities that rise to the surface. Next, add the rest of the wine, the diced shallots, and peppercorns. Reduce by 1/3. In a small bowl, make a slurry with corn starch and water. Whisk the slurry into the pan until the sauce is slightly thick. Adjust seasoning with salt.

2 tablespoons Jack Daniels Whiskey
1 tablespoon steak sauce
1 tablespoon dark brown sugar
2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce
1/4 teaspoon granulated garlic
1/4 teaspoon kosher salt
1/4 teaspoon fresh ground black pepper
4 (8 ounce) New York strip steaks (1 inch thick)
3 medium garlic cloves
1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
3 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil
1 tablespoon finely chopped fresh rosemary
2 teaspoons fresh coarse ground black pepper

Steps:

  • Make the sauce: In a small saucepan, whisk all the sauce ingredients with ½ cup water.
  • Bring to a simmer over medium-high heat, then decrease heat and simmer for 10 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  • Trim most of the exterior fat from the steaks; let stand at room temperature for 20-30 minutes before grilling.
  • Roughly chop the garlic; then sprinkle the salt on top.
  • Using both the sharp edge and the flat side of the knifeblade, crush the garlic and salt together to create a paste.
  • In a small bowl, mix the paste with the oil, rosemary, and pepper; smear mixture evenly all over the steaks.
  • Grill over direct high heat until cooked to desired doneness, 6-8 minutes for medium-rare, turning once (if flare-ups occur, move the steaks temporarily over indirect heat).
  • Remove from the grill and let rest for 3-5 minutes; serve warm with the sauce on the side.

This New York strip steak is seared steak that's cooked to golden brown, then topped with a garlic and herb butter. An easy dinner recipe that tastes like it came from a steakhouse, but can be made in the comfort of your own home.

4 New York strip steaks (8-10 ounces each)
1 1/2 tablespoons neutral flavored oil (such as corn oil, safflower oil, canola oil, grapeseed oil or peanut oil)
salt and pepper to taste
4 tablespoons butter
4 garlic cloves (smashed)
5 sprigs fresh thyme

Steps:

  • Let the steaks sit at room temperature for 20 minutes.
  • Preheat the oven to 450 degrees F. Season the steaks on both sides with salt and pepper to taste.
  • Heat a heavy pan such as a cast iron skillet over high heat.
  • Add the oil to the pan. Place the strip steaks in the pan in a single layer.
  • Cook for 3-4 minutes per side or until deep golden brown.
  • Add the butter to the pan. After the butter has melted, add the garlic cloves and thyme sprigs to the pan. Stir to combine.
  • Spoon the butter mixture over the steaks. Insert a probe thermometer into the thickest part of one of the steaks.
  • Place the meat in the oven and bake for 5-7 minutes or until the thermometer registers 140 degrees F for a medium steak.
  • Remove the pan from the oven. Let the steak rest for 5 minutes. Spoon the pan drippings over the steak, then slice and serve immediately.
