Wonderful, moist chocolate cake topped with a delicious sweet cream cheese topping, and very easy to make...a wonderful clone to the Neiman Marcus cake.

1 (18 1/4 ounce) box chocolate cake mix
3 eggs
1/2 cup butter or 1/2 cup margarine
1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
1/4 cup chopped nuts
4 cups icing sugar (confectioners)
1 (8 ounce) package cream cheese, softened

Steps:

  • Set oven to 350 degrees.
  • Grease a 13 x 9" baking pan.
  • In a large bowl, combine the cake mix with 1 egg, butter Or margarine; mix until smooth.
  • Pat the mixture into prepared baking pan.
  • Sprinkle with the chocolate chips and the chopped nuts evenly over the cake-crust in the pan.
  • in a bowl, mix together the icing sugar, cream cheese and the remaining 2 eggs until well blended; pour over the semi-sweet chocolate chips and the nuts.
  • Bake for about 40 minutes.
  • Let cake cool a little before cutting.
  • Serve warm or cooled-- DELICIOUS!

1 (18.25 ounce) package chocolate cake mix
3 eggs
½ cup butter
1 cup semisweet chocolate chips
1 cup chopped walnuts
4 cups confectioners' sugar
1 (8 ounce) package cream cheese

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease one 13x9 inch baking pan.
  • Combine the chocolate cake mix, 1 of the eggs, and the butter or margarine and mix until smooth. Pat mixture into the prepared pan. Sprinkle the semi sweet chocolate chips and the chopped nuts evenly over the cake.
  • Mix together the confectioner's sugar, cream cheese, and the remaining 2 eggs until well blended. Pour over the semi-sweet chocolate chips and the chopped nuts.
  • Bake at 350 degrees F (175 degrees C) for about 40 minutes. Let cake cool a little before cutting. Serve warm or cooled.

Steps:

  • Blend cake mix, butter and eggs. Mix in nuts. Then spread batter into a greased and floured 13 x 9 pan. Mix all ingredients for icing together. Then pour icing on top of the cake batter. Bake at 350°F for 45 minutes.

1 c chopped pecans
1 box powdered sugar
2 eggs
1 8 oz. cream cheese

Steps:

  • 1. Mix cake mix, melted butter, 2 eggs and chopped pecans. Put into a greased floured 13x9 inch cake pan.
  • 2. Mix 1 box powdered sugar, 2 eggs and cream cheese. Pour over first layer.

1 (18 1/2 ounce) package pillsbury's moist supreme yellow cake mix (with pudding)
1/2 cup melted butter
4 eggs
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
1 (8 ounce) package softened cream cheese
4 cups powdered sugar

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
  • Bottom Layer: Mix cake mix, melted butter, 2 eggs and 1 teaspoon vanilla extract with a spoon.
  • Pat into a 9x13 inch greased pan.
  • Top Layer: Mix cream cheese, 2 eggs and 1 teaspoon vanilla extract with and electric mixer. Slowly beat in the powdered sugar.
  • Pour the mixture over the bottom layer.
  • Bake for 30 - 35 minutes. Top layer should be flakey and a light golden brown. Allow to cool. Cut into squares.

This Neiman Marcus Cake recipe is a gooey butter cake with a tangy cream cheese layer for a short-cut dessert recipe.

1 15.25 oz box yellow or white cake mix
1/2 cup butter (melted)
2 large eggs
3-1/2 cup powdered sugar (plus more for serving)
8 ounces cream cheese (room temperature)
2 large eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350°F. Spray a 9x13 cake pan with non-stick spray or line it with foil.
  • In a large mixing bowl, mix cake mix, melted butter, and eggs with a sturdy spoon until well blended. (It will be thick like a cookie dough.)
  • Use your fingers or a bench scraper to press dough into the prepared pan.
  • Make cream cheese topping: In a mixing bowl, beat cream cheese and two cups of powdered sugar on low speed until smooth. Add eggs and vanilla and beat on low speed until blended. Add remaining 1 1/2 cups powdered sugar and beat until blended. Pour over cake bottom and spread to the edges of the pan.
  • Bake for 35 to 40 minutes or until topping is set and golden brown and it's pulling away from the sides of the pan. Cool completely in the pan.
  • To serve, cut into squares and sprinkle top with additional powdered sugar if desired.
