2 cups sugar
Two .14-ounce packages unsweetened drink mix (any color)
Shaved ice, for serving

Steps:

  • In a medium saucepan, stir together the sugar and 1 cup water. Bring to a boil and cook, stirring, until the sugar is fully dissolved. Remove the pan from the heat and mix in the drink mix. Allow the mixture to cool completely.
  • Prepare cones or bowls of shaved ice and pour about 1/4 cup of the syrup on top of each.

3/4 cup sugar
3/4 cup water
1 packet (0.16 oz) Kool Aid
Ice
Snow Cone Maker or Food Processor
Bottles for Syrup
Funnel
Snow Cone Cups

Steps:

  • In a medium pan, combine sugar and water, bring to a boil, stirring occasionally
  • Reduce heat and let simmer 3 minutes
  • Remove from heat and sprinkle Kool Aid packet in - be sure to sprinkle and not dump, it will combine better
  • Stir for 1-2 minutes to dissolve completely
  • Using a funnel, VERY carefully pour the syrup into a bottle - depending on the size of the bottle, you made need 2 batches to fill the bottle
  • Place in fridge to chill
  • Crush ice in Snow Cone Maker or Food Processor
  • Fill snow cone cups, add syrup

Simple Sugar Free Snow Cone Syrups image

Super Simple Sugar-Free Snow Cone Syrups involve no cooking this summer! Just get the water hot, add additional ingredients and whisk!

Number Of Ingredients 8

1c water (hot not boiling)
1/2c gentle sweet (I use 1/4c Xylitol + 1/4c Erythritol + 1 doonk pure stevia extract)
Pinch of salt
1/8tsp xantham gum (better not to use gluccie here)
1tsp favorite single extract or combination of extracts or flavorings
1T heavy cream (optional)
Food colors (optional)
Shaved ice

Steps:

  • Dissolve the sweetener and pinch of salt completely into the hot water
  • SLOWLY add the Xantham Gum and whisk briskly to keep it from clumping! Note! You could stop right here and have a plain/unflavored sweet syrup to flavor differently per snow cone, or continue to Step 3 and make a whole batch of the same flavor.
  • Add your choice of extract, or a combination of extracts and optional ingredients (cream and/or food coloring)
  • And now ... wait patiently while it CHILLS! (Hot syrup and shaved ice don't get along well!)
  • Use your favorite kitchen gadget (e.g. Vitamix, Ninja, or Rival's Snow Cone machine pictured above) to shave ice, or just sneak over to your favorite snow cone stand and order a cup of shaved ice!
  • Add 3 Tablespoons of syrup per 1 to 1.5 cups of shaved ice and ENJOY!

  • In a saucepan, stir together the sugar and water. Bring to a boil, and boil for about 1 minute. Remove from heat, and stir in the drink mix. Allow to cool, and store in a container for pouring. Pour over shaved ice to flavor.

  • Add 1 teaspoon of xanthan gum to 1/4 cup of water. Blend these ingredients on high speed until it has fully combined. This is what creates the thickness in the syrup. You can see what it looks like in the video I've attached. It's very important you do this step first. The xanthan gum must dissolve in the water to create the thick syrup before you add the remaining ingredients.
  • Next, add the remaining ingredients to the blender (1 3/4 cups water, swerve sweetener, and Lorann Flavor oils)
  • Blend all the ingredients on high for a few minutes until they all combine fully. It's good to note that the combination of these ingredients will create a super white foam like mixture. It will become clear as the ingredients settle.
  • You can add a bit more of the Lorann flavor oils if you prefer. I find some of them to be really powerful and some to be less powerful than others. Be sure to take a little taste of your syrup to determine if you need to add a few more drops to adjust it to your liking.
