Naked Apple Pie image

Makes its own crust while baking. Serve this with cheese or whipped cream, or just plain. Super! Recipe is from General Hospital Medical Center in Everett, WA. (The origional recipe calls for the walnuts, cut in half...but I don't like that huge of walnut-chunks at all)

Number Of Ingredients 9

1 egg
1/2 cup brown sugar
1 teaspoon baking powder
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup flour
1 teaspoon vanilla
1/2 cup white sugar
1/2 cup walnuts, chopped (or leave them halved)
2 medium apples, peeled and then chopped or sliced

Steps:

  • Beat egg.
  • Add sugar and vanilla.
  • Sift flour with salt and baking powder, into egg mixture.
  • Stir in apples and nuts.
  • Spread in a greased 9-inch pie plate.
  • Bake at 350 for 30 minutes.

This is a yummy little apple pie and a scoop of vanilla ice cream on top while it's warm could win you over!

1 egg
1/2 c brown sugar
1/2 c white sugar
1 tsp vanilla extract
pinch of salt
1/2 c flour
1 tsp baking powder
2 medium apples, peeled,and sliced
1/2 c chopped pecans

Steps:

  • 1. Beat egg in medium sized bowl. Add sugars, vanilla, salt, flour and baking powder and mix well.
  • 2. Stir in apples and pecans. Spread ingredients into greased 9-inch pie plate.
  • 3. Bake at 350 for 30 minutes. Serve with a scoop of vanilla ice cream on top while warm. Yum!

1/2 cup sugar
1/2 cup packed brown sugar
3 tablespoons all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon ground ginger
1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
6 to 7 cups thinly sliced peeled tart apples
1 tablespoon lemon juice
Dough for double-crust pie
1 tablespoon butter
1 large egg white
Additional sugar

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 375°. In a small bowl, combine sugars, flour and spices; set aside. In a large bowl, toss apples with lemon juice. Add sugar mixture; toss to coat. , On a lightly floured surface, roll one half of dough to a 1/8-in.-thick circle; transfer to a 9-in. pie plate. Trim even with rim. Add filling; dot with butter. Roll remaining dough to a 1/8-in.-thick circle. Place over filling. Trim, seal and flute edge. Cut slits in top. Beat egg white until foamy; brush over crust. Sprinkle with sugar. Cover edge loosely with foil. , Bake 25 minutes. Remove foil; bake until crust is golden brown and filling is bubbly, 20-25 minutes longer. Cool on a wire rack.
