AGUA DE AVENA
Refreshing Agua de Avena is inspired by both Mexican agua frescas and Quaker Frescavena, popular in Mexico and Latin America but contains no refined sugar. It's a healthy, cooling treat for hot summer days to enjoy on its own or with a meal.

Steps:
- Blend the oats, 3 cups of water, vanilla and cinnamon in a high-speed blender for one minute. I used a Ninja blender and it worked well.
- Pour through a fine-mesh metal strainer, tapping the sides of the strainer or allowing it to sit so the liquid drains through. Or, press lightly with a spoon but don't press it too much or it will get a slimy consistency.
- Discard the remaining solids.
- Adding remaining 3 cups of water and date caramel sweetener (see below) to the oat water and stir thoroughly.
- Transfer the oat milk into an airtight glass pitcher and chill. Serve poured over ice. Garnish with sprinkles of cinnamon and a cinnamon stick.
- It can be stored in the refrigerator for up to three days, Be sure to stir well before serving as it will settle.

FRESCAVENA-LIKE OATMEAL DRINK MIX
Similar to the popular Latin American drink from Quaker "Frescavena". This oatmeal based beverage is nutritious and refreshing. My 18 month old daughter loves it and after not finding it anywhere in stores I had to come up with a way to make it myself EASILY. I love this because I can keep it on hand and scoop it into a glass of milk and its ready to go!

Steps:
- Empty 8 oz box of infant cereal into food processor. Using this cereal instead of rolled oats produces a finer grain that more easily dissolves in liquid, plus it is fortified with more vitamins and minerals.
- Blend until the flakes are no longer visible and it becomes a fine powder (3-5 minutes).
- Add sugar and blend again until it is mixed thoroughly and all the same fine powder consistency.
- Add 2 tablespoons (add more or less to taste) of mixture to 8 ounces of milk or water and blend in a blender or shaker cup with 2 ice cubes and enjoy!
- Optional additions: add vanilla, cinnamon or strawberry quick to final beverage. Can be served as a warm beverage as well.

AVENA COLOMBIANA(COLOMBIAN OATMEAL DRINK)
Avena means oats in English and it's a traditional Colombian drink that is rich, creamy and delicious. Great with breakfast or you could serve it at any time of the day. I use almond or soy milk to make this vegan. Use your preferred milk. From my columbian recipes.

REFRESCO DE OSMEAL (REFRESHING OATMEAL DRINK)
A very easy, refreshing drink. It brings back very tender childhood memories for me. My grandmother made this for me after school alot. I am sure the kids in your life will also enjoy this as much as I still do. Sometimes I use a sugar subsitute but honestly I preffer the real sugar.

MY VERY OWN FRESCAVENA - OATMEAL DRINK
Frescavena is an oatmeal beverage very common in latinamerica. I was a bit put off by the high amounts of sugar in the commercial version, yet I liked the idea of having a creamy and nutritious quick drink for my children. This is our favourite version so far

- If using freeze dried strawberries process them in the coffee grinder too.
- Put everything in a suitable container, give it a couple shakes.
- When ready to serve add 1 tbsp of mix to a cup of warm milk (for extra creamy) or water and mix. For better results or for drinking it cold use a blender.
