QUICK APPLE COBBLER

Quick Apple Cobbler image

This is a very easy recipe made with simple basics you usually have around the house. Perfect with after-dinner coffee or office pot-lucks. My sons also like to top it with whipped cream or ice cream. Change it up a bit by substituting a can of cherries or sliced peaches for a different variety of cobbler.

EASY APPLE COBBLER FROM SCRATCH

Easy Apple Cobbler From Scratch image

Easy apple cobbler from scratch using fresh apples is super easy to make, soft, delicious apple dessert which is perfect for any occasion.

Provided by Recipe Garden

Categories     Dessert

Time 1h

Number Of Ingredients 14

6 medium sized gala apples (or other apples suitable for cobbler)
1/2 cup brown sugar
2 tablespoons butter
1 teaspoon cinnamon powder
1/4 teaspoon nutmeg (optional)
1.5 cups all purpose flour
2 teaspoon baking powder
salt (a pinch)
1 teaspoon cinnamon powder
1 cup whole milk (at room temperature)
1/2 cup butter (melted)
3/4 cup sugar
1/4 cup brown sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Steps:

  • Peel and core the apples and slice them in slightly thick slices.
  • Melt the 2 tablespoons butter in a saucepan and add the apple slices.
  • Saute the apples in the butter for about a minute. Add in the brown sugar, cinnamon powder & nutmeg for the apple filling, mix everything well and keep this mixture aside.
  • In a large bowl, mix together the dry ingredients first - flour, baking powder, cinnamon powder and salt until all ingredients are evenly mixed.
  • In another bowl add the melted butter and add the sugar, mix very well.
  • Also add the milk & vanilla extract to the butter sugar mixture, mix everything well together.
  • To make the batter, transfer the wet ingredients mixture slowly to the dry flour mixture and mix in.
  • Also add the 1/4 cup of brown sugar for the batter and mix everything well to form the batter. Do not overmix but make sure there is no dry flour in the batter and all the ingredients in the batter are well blended.
  • Preheat oven to 350 degree Fahrenheit.
  • Prepare a pan greased with little butter and layer the apple filling mixture in a single layer.
  • Pour the prepared batter over the apple filling and using a spoon, spread the batter evenly across the pan to almost cover the apples, and then gently mix in the batter a little so some of the apple slices are visible outside.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for about 50 to 60 minutes of time until the cobbler is baked and the apples look juicy and the top is golden brown in color. One tip to make the perfect apple cobbler is to check the apple cobbler after about 35 minutes of time, and if the topping begins to brown, cover the pan with a foil and bake for the remaining time which will help to retain the moisture content of the dish, making it more delicious and juicy!
  • Allow the apple cobbler to cool down slightly, then scoop out and serve the slightly warm apple cobbler with vanilla ice cream or any ice cream of your choice!

APPLE COBBLER

Apple Cobbler image

Tender cinnamon-spiced apples topped with a buttery sugar cookie topping. A rustic and delicious fall dessert.

Provided by Allison - Celebrating Sweets

Categories     Dessert

Time 1h10m

Number Of Ingredients 12

5 generous cups sliced peeled apples (see note)
1/4 cup apple juice or apple cider
1-3 tablespoons granulated sugar (based on how sweet you want the filling)
1 tablespoon all purpose flour
3/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
2/3 cup granulated sugar
3/4 cup all purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
1/4 teaspoon salt
6 tablespoons unsalted butter (melted)
3/4 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
vanilla ice cream or whipped cream (for serving)

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350°F. Grease an 8x8 baking dish.
  • In a large bowl, combine all filling ingredients. Note: Apples should be sliced ¼ inch thick or smaller (this is important so that they soften during bake time). Stir until well combined. Pour the apple mixture into the prepared baking dish (along with all the juices) and arrange into an even layer.
  • In a medium bowl stir together sugar, flour, baking powder, and salt. Stir in melted butter and vanilla (I use a rubber spatula). It will be thick, very similar to sugar cookie dough.
  • Take pieces of the topping and press them into flat irregular-shaped pieces, placing the pieces on top of the apples.
  • Lightly spray a piece of foil with nonstick spray and place the foil over the cobbler. Bake, covered, for 25 minutes. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 20-30 minutes, until the apples are tender and the topping is light golden brown. Place on a wire rack to cool for 15 minutes. Serve warm with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream.

MY DEFINITION OF ' EASY' APPLE COBBLER

My Definition of ' Easy' Apple Cobbler image

This recipe spawned from a can of apple pie filling, a long week, no milk and a craving. I looked high and low on the site for a recipe that truly looked easy as I was dog tired and nothing that I found had the ingredients I wanted or liked, and I wanted a completely covered pie like top without all the work of making a pie crust. This is the result, enjoy! I would think you can substitute other pie fillings, but the extra stuff in the filling mix may need to be adjusted/omitted. This recipe works best if put in an 8" round glass dish produces a thin cobbler and enough topping to coat it completely without a lot of fuss trying to make it stretch. For anything larger I would at least double or if you like more filling, just double those ingredients. Goes great with a scoop of vanilla bean ice cream on top!

Provided by Michelle_My_Belle

Categories     Dessert

Time 1h10m

Yield 6 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 8

1 (21 ounce) can apple pie filling
2 teaspoons cinnamon
1 teaspoon vanilla
1/4 cup white sugar
1/2 cup butter, softened (But NOT melted, 1 stick)
1/2 cup brown sugar
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1 cup flour

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350°F.
  • Mix filling ingredients in a round 8" glass oven proof dish. Spread as evenly as you can.
  • Cream softened butter and brown sugar until smooth, add cinnamon.
  • Blend in flour in batches until soft dough forms.
  • I grabbed small balls, and pressed them between my palms to form an oval like patty.
  • Slowly cover the entire top of the cobbler starting at the edges and moving around. Definitely not a science here that's just what worked for me.
  • After the whole top is covered, fill in thinner spots left from overlapping pieces and gently press into a uniform topping.
  • Use a butter knife to put small but sorta wide (so they don't close when it bakes) holes to help vent steam.
  • Bake for 1 hour at 350°F, checking halfway through that your vents didn't close up.
  • Almost all of the topping should have a light golden brown appearance, and the edges should not give when pressed lightly.
  • For ease in serving, cool slightly and cut slices before spooning into bowls.
  • Top with your favorite ice cream and enjoy!
